This was one of the behaviors that I was interested in seeing along with transitioning to solid foods and I was happy to be able to see both!
I went to the fox den again tonight. I was planning the grebes but it's raining in the Goldstream Valley, so it was the foxes who didn't disappoint. Just had troubles with the low light.

Raccoon Kits (Procyon lotor) - Along the The Florida Trail on the St. John side of the Taylor Creek Loop north of Route 528, Tosohatchee Wildlife Management Area, Titusville, Florida
Actually 3 kits we found alongside the road, with the middle one refusing to give us eye contact.
I stayed in the truck, angled the driver side window uproad, and made these captures with the six on the roof-rack rig.
'Cause if I stopped and got out of the truck they surely would have beat feet for the pinewood flats.
After a fun morning of playing around, it was time for this kit to settle down for a little nap on the hay bale.

Member of the Kit Carson club at the Amador County Fair, Plymouth, CA
"We don't do reenactments - this is how we live," he told me. He has lived in teepees for years, though the one he had set up here was a Plains variety, not like the local Miwok. His group (about 20) teach about at the early years of California's white exploration and settlement, and they were at the fair to recruit a new generation of enthusiasts.

I'm trying to catch the kitten so I can bring her inside.
A follow up, I did catch the kitten and she now lives inside with the rest of us, I named her Tara and she is so spoiled.
Red Fox Kit (Vulpes vulpes) - Boothbay Harbor, Maine
Gotta love playin' beek-a-boo with cute little kits!
And the six with the 5Dsr did a fine job eye-solatin' the little guy!
My mind is on red foxes today! I was excited to see a red fox run across my backyard again! Then I saw a red fox kit dead in the road which made me so sad! The two foxes were in different areas and were not the same fox!!! It is not an easy life for these wonderful creatures but I am happy that I have been able to watch them play and enjoy life!
e neste aqui tem de tudo, ovelha, porquinho...

I visited the den today and was excited to find out that there are six kits not 5! There are two cottages that they have been denning under and there are a lot of trees and bushes so it is often hard to see how many kits there are! Today she nursed them and I counted 6. The kits are getting bigger and are often wondering off on their own and exploring the environment around them! I also got a glimpse of papa fox but he is a bit shy! I read that the male gray fox helps supply food for the family but he actually does not stay in the den with them!
New Kit.. finally pretty much done.
