San Diego, California.
I was fortunate to meet up with my old friend Kit and her husband two evenings after San Diego Comic-Con had closed for the night. These are from our first meetup, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.
I first shot with Kit when she was 17.The last was in 2017, the last time I got a ticket to SDCC. It was a pleasure to see her again!
Kit is an accomplished actress who was featured in the latest season of "Picard" with quite a bit of green paint applied to her!

I received this kit maybe 2 weeks ago and I still haven't been to the lab to have my blood drawn. I am a participant of this nurse's health study since my daughter was only 2 or 3 years old. I had given them blood samples before, urine, hair, toenail and fingernail clippings. They need my blood and urine samples again. And I really hate to have my blood drawn but if it helps other people then one day next week I'm going. It was funny when I first received the box. I had forgotten that in the last questionnaire , I had indicated that I was willing to give blood/urine samples. The box did not say it was from Harvard School, it just said Bioservices. I suggested to my husband to call the hazmat team it might be a bomb or smallpox or some virus. He told me to open it in the garage, so I wore gloves and mask and opened it and was relieved to see the Harvard Medical logo inside.

This is the 5' Ramsey quick connect kit (251053). I got a great deal on ebay, or I would have just made the cable myself from 2 AWG cable and a SB175 connector and a pair of 2 AWG terminal rings. Note: if you mix colors of quick connectors such as ramsey, warn, or any of the other SB175s, you will need to do some dremel work to make them fit.
Kit available here!
Thoth is known as being the wisest of the Egyptian Gods, and here I have represented him as the ibis-headed scribe. The Egyptian name of Thoth, Djehuty, means 'truth' and 'time'. He was a master magickian, and the inventor of astrology, astronomy, engineering, botany, geometry, and many other sciences. Thoth is considered to be a Moon God, the curve of the ibis beak representing the crescent Moon.
The hieroglyphs in the centre of the design are letting us know that Thoth is the messenger and scribe to the Gods in the skies above. (Now that's a Michelle-translation, so if anyone can elaborate, please do!)

- Size 20 tapestry needle
All packed in a black glossy bag with rope handles - perfect for carrying your work around!

Before there were any Tescos or Carrefours in Malaysia, before hypermarkets became prevalent and ubiquitous, there was only Pasar Chow Kit, the original hypermarket of Kuala Lumpur. It is older than the formation of Malaysia itself, and it lays claim to being the biggest morning wet market in KL. It’s sprawling and haphazard stalls have been supplying the legion of household kitchens, ‘gerais’ and restaurants in the city with essential ingredients since it was first opened in 1955 by the then Sultan of Selangor. Located in the heart of KL, the area which was once a booming shopping and entertainment district in it’s heyday, has now become a menagerie of mixed cultures and influences, playing host to a myriad of interesting and often idiosyncratic personalities. Sordid and morally ignoble characters, such as drug users, transsexuals and crooks mingle around only to vanish in the shadows of honest tradesmen and food mongers.
Back when I was a kid in the 80’s, I used to hate coming here for grocery shopping with my parents. The cement and asphalt floor of the wet market area were spotted with small potholes and these would be filled with filthy, brackish water. The place was always crowded elbow to elbow, making it hard to maneuver around. As a result, I always ended up coming home from a Chow Kit excursion with foul and grimy feet. The market was a very noisy place too, filled with all the shouts and yells of sellers making their spiels to the throngs of prospective customers. To me at least, mention Chow Kit and probably the thing I’d remember the most would be those nasty feed-fouling potholes.
But, there were things that I liked about the market as well. There is a ‘dry’ section in addition to the ‘wet’ section which I loathed. This dry section was where utensils and dry foodstuffs were sold, and on the right day and given the right type of weather, this portion of Chow Kit market would be filled with the loveliest light rays filtering through the red, yellow and blue umbrella tops of the stalls, and minuscule dust motes would be dancing around in those rays. This section had a nice musty smell to it too. It was pleasant.
Like everyone else, my parents stopped going to Pasar Chow Kit when the local Giant opened it’s doors. Now, almost 20 years later from my childhood trips to Chow Kit Market, I find the place to be essentially the same as it was, only everything seemed to be way smaller than I remembered it to be. A much needed trip back down memory lane, that’s what this particular photo outing gave to me.
And yes, I’m happy to report those pesky potholes are still there.

Daylilies are seen almost on every farm house they line the old railway tracks and in the ditches out front of all homes in the subdivions in almost every town across North America. As far as in know this is the only Lily that is edible and delicious.Day Lilies (Hemerocallis species) – Slightly sweet with a mild vegetable flavor, like sweet lettuce or melon. Their flavor is a combination of asparagus and zucchini. Chewable consistency. Some people think that different colored blossoms have different flavors. To use the surprisingly sweet petals in desserts, cut them away from the bitter white base of the flower. Also great to stuff like squash blossoms. Flowers look beautiful on composed salad platters or crowning a frosted cake. Sprinkle the large petals in a spring salad. In the spring, gather shoots two or three inches tall and use as a substitute for asparagus. NOTE: Many Lilies contain alkaloids and are NOT edible. Day Lilies may act as a diuretic or laxative; eat in moderation. Information: Edible Flower Chart, Whats cooking.
