OK, a deliberate pun! Another surprise find. I had no memory of this whatsoever, but this shows me in the "dining room" (really an alcove off the main living room) of No. 1 The Oval, in the process of putting together a plastic aircraft model kit. I would guess that I'm aged around seven years at this time. Going by the side of the box, it appears to be a FROG model, and it may be a Hawker Typhoon, but I can't tell for sure. The table is also not in its usual position of being parallel with the window in the backgroud, so I wonder whether my father staged the shot?
The black cube-like object on the sideboard behind me is a Sanyo quarter-inch reel-to-reel tape recorder -- it still exists! They seemed to be a popular consumer item at the time, and many of my friends' parents seemed to have similar models in their homes. The circular table mat also looks familiar.

The final kit for my 6 week trip to Nepal. 2-3 weeks trekking, and 3 weeks of general exploring.
The 5d2 is my main weapon of choice. The 50mm f/1.4 weighs almost nothing and is great for evening walks. The 135L is the love of my life, and an amazing tool for street portraits, which is my preferred style of photography.
The 17-40, well.... The choice was either this or the 300mm f/4L IS, which would be great (I think, at least) for candid street portraits. But, with the help of the nice people at dpreview, I decided to challenge myself this trip, and try to get right up amongst the locals, interacting with them prior to taking their photos. I have decided that this will result in a more rewarding experience than I would have had by picking them off from afar.
I very much enjoy the portraits of Photosadhu (in my contacts list) and his portraits are all from quite close to the subject.
Also, Nepal does boast some breathtaking scenery, so after much thought, I bought a second hand 17-40 for those ultra wide angle shots. With my B&W circular polarizer, this should arm me with some great tools for some impressive landscapes.
I leave in 6 days..... Stay tuned for more photos :)

Spot the missing item of kit*.
Total weight of pack, (including camera) = 14lbs. Tent weighs 900g. Seeing as I've lost more weight than that in the last two months the tent and pack are effectively being carried for free.
* Glad I didn't get a puncture.
