Kit Fox, my last photos of 2016! The only wild one I had ever seen was crossing the road in front of the car last year when I was driving to Tucson at 6 am. A friend told me that there was a Kit Fox near the campsite. I was very excited! I armed myself with my camera, flash , tripod and associated gear for an evening of shooting. I was out most of the day and assumed the extra camera bettery was charged, but... Then, I use my flash so rarely, I tend to foget everything about it between one time and the other. So, in general, the photo quality was disppointing. We used a flashlight to focus on the fox so the camera auto-focus could work. To our surprise, there were two foxes, not one! Anyhow, my batteries are now charged, and I will practice, practice, practice with the flash before I go back! and wait until it is a bit warmer. We seem to be getting into another cold snap. Kit Kats: big in Japan. No, seriously! When JC and I went over there, we marveled at how popular Kit Kat was. There are vending machines and all sorts of unusual flavors.
This plasticine-sheen variety is purple sweet potato, which more or less tasted like cheap white chocolate. Fortunately, I had purchased backup (good) chocolate in case the aftertaste was unpleasant. It was.
This is one of four kits in a ball. See the group below.
My friend Bernie got a shot with all four looking at the camera, which you can see here:

Had a lot of fun making a couple of Podge kits - vintage fabric all the way - even the little linen pouch the ingredients are stored inside!

Part of my humble disaster preparedness kit. Wind-up radio (Eton FR300) is operated by a hand-crank. It can also charge cel phone. It comes with carrying case that's got a comfortable handle (and has light and siren, too). Bought stove and food the day after Loma Prieta quake. I'd just moved into a new place, and I seriously (seriously!) meant to buy earthquake supplies "tomorrow" before an earthquake happened in northern half of state today. How long will the dried food last?
This is pretty much the whole kit I wanted to build in a full body V system. Now it's time to save my pennies for a nice SWC.
Looks fabulous on the newly painted pink kitchen wall.
Not operational yet, because we don't have any batteries the right size. I keep flicking his tail every time I walk past so I can see his eyes moving.
Kit's Coty House or Kit's Coty is the name of the remains of a Neolithic chambered long barrow on Blue Bell Hill near Aylesford in the English county of Kent. It is one of the Medway megaliths.

Although badly damaged by ploughing and later vandalism the impressive entrance to the tomb still survives. It consists of three sarsen orthostats supporting a horizontal capstone with a total height of almost 3m. This would have been at one end of a 70m earthern long barrow oriented east-west. A further stone at the site known as the General's Stone or General's Tomb was destroyed in 1867 and may have come from the chamber. William Stukeley visited the site in 1722 and was able to sketch the site whilst it was still largely intact. Before this, Samuel Pepys also saw it and wrote:
Three great stones standing upright and a great round one lying on them, of great bigness, although not so big as those on Salisbury Plain. But certainly it is a thing of great antiquity, and I am mightily glad to see it.

In 1854, it was investigated by Thomas Wright who found 'rude pottery' beneath the stones and further Neolithic sherds were recovered from the surrounding field in 1936. Trenching in 1956 located the silted-up ditch surrounding the southern side of the monument and further stones which had been pushed into the ditch when the monument was partially demolished. An excavation in advance of High Speed 1, which runs nearby found the remains of a Neolithic longhouse.
In 1885, Kit's Coty was one of the first sites in Britain to become a Scheduled Ancient Monument and the iron railings that surround it were added a few years later at the suggestion of Augustus Pitt Rivers. It is now in the care of English Heritage.
As only the megalithic portion of the barrow was fenced in by the railings, the long earth barrow has been continually ploughed away since, with uncovered stones dumped in woodland nearby by the farmer and the mound itself, still visible in the mid-twentieth century, now gone.
The site is traditionally known as the burial site of Catigern, brother of Vortimer and son of Vortigern following a battle with the Saxon Horsa in the mid fifth century AD - listed in The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle as taking place in 455 AD. In 1947, one of the stones from the kerb was removed.
The Countless Stones, also known as Little Kit's Coty House lie around 450m to the south. The name "Kits Coty" allegedly means "Tomb in the Forest" according to signs at the site, possibly related to the Ancient British *kaitom, later *keiton, meaning "forest".
