Cefalù is an ancient seaside village and an important tourist center in the metropolitan city of Palermo, Sicily.
It is one of the largest seaside resorts in the entire region; despite its size, it attracts a significant influx of local, national, and international tourists every year, which, in the summer, triple the population, crowding the town's main squares and streets.
It is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and is the gateway to the entire Madonie region and a base for trips to the Aeolian Islands.
The city's cathedral, included in the Arab-Norman Palermo and the Cathedrals of Cefalù and Monreale site, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015.
Cefalù is located on the northern coast of Sicily, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, about 70 km from Palermo, at the foot of a rocky promontory.
The characteristic old town sits at the foot of a large rock formation known as the Rocca, which contains the remains of Paleolithic, Byzantine, and medieval settlements. The modern part of the town extends along the coast seamlessly into the medieval part of the historic center.

Also in recognition of Giving Tuesday....." pick a cause that gets you fired up and give back". For me, it's St. Jude Children's Hospital which treats children with catastrophic illness, mostly cancer, absolutely free of charge!

My friend, Donna, had a tough week. Yesterday, one of my sons and I drove to her house, sneaked onto her porch and left a big bag of her favorite candy, (Milky Way) by the front door. Signed, From the Christmas Elf. She sent happy texts all over, probably trying to find out who left it. Pretty sure she suspected us.....

I saw this battered sticker/decal on a car window about a year ago. I thought then it was a sign of and for our times. It seems even more suitable now. Kindness always matters. Yet our desire - and perhaps our ability - to show it, do it, be it, seems very diminished these days.
Kindness is when your wonderful neighbour makes you two hand woven wraps for Christmas. So soft and so warm.
there’s a lot of noise, anger, and blame in the world. yet there’s also stillness, love, and compassion. life is difficult for everyone. it’s helpful to be kind—kind inward and kind outward. such a simple thing that can have profound impact.

Chapter One – Where Kindness Blooms

She carried kindness as quietly as sunlight, and left beauty wherever she wandered.
The old conservatory had stood quietly for generations, its glass roof catching the first light of every morning.
Most people hurried past without ever opening its weathered doors.
Pippa never did.
She believed some places deserved to be visited simply because they had waited patiently to be remembered.
As she stepped inside, the air carried the gentle fragrance of roses and fresh earth. Sunlight filtered through the climbing ivy, painting soft patterns across the marble floor. Somewhere nearby, a little robin sang as though it had been expecting her.
She smiled.
Not because anything extraordinary had happened...
but because ordinary moments often held the greatest treasures.
She paused beside the first white rose of the season.
Its petals had only just begun to unfold.
Carefully, she reached out, not to pick it, but simply to admire it.
"Everything beautiful has its own time," she whispered.
The breeze carried a single petal across the room, and for a moment the whole conservatory seemed to breathe with her.
She never imagined that this quiet morning would become the beginning of a journey.
Some stories begin with great adventures.
Others begin with a single flower...
and a kind heart willing to notice it.

yesterday i noticed the sunset light in repeated puddles on a sidewalk. as i sprawled on the ground to take this shot, a car stopped and someone asked, "are you okay?" i smiled and said, "oh, i'm just fine; i'm taking a photograph." i carry that stranger's kindness with me; kindness as warm as the sun.

Dec. 16th, I just found out that his name is Howard Matthews, and that everyone around here seems to know him. I just read an article on him from a few years ago that told his story. It confirmed my belief that he is a wonderful man!
