"ATOS Kills" banners & placards used at DPAC disability rights protests, 2011 - 2012

Various banners, placards, signs etc. used during DPAC (Disabled People Against Cuts) protests, aimed specifically aimed at French IT company ATOS Origin, specifically at ATOS Healthcare, the sub-division contracted at huge expense by the British government to carry out the controversial "Work Capability Assessment" examinations - a deeply flawed, inadequate computerised check-box exercise designed to trivialise peoples' disabilities and used by the government to throw people with disabilities off their life-saving benefits.

This lion kill was amazing to watch. It took a half an hour from the time the lioness spotted the zebra, to the time she actually made the kill. She was amazingly patient as the zebra wandered farther and farther from her group. The lioness laid in wait until the zebra was very close. The wind was in her favor. The chase was short, and within about 5 seconds, the zebra was down. The lioness crushed the windpipe of the zebra, and it was over very quickly. After the kill, the lioness dragged the dead zebra about 1/4 of a mile, to hide it under a tree, where she called her family to join her.

I took this photograph in August 2012 at a reception Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince of The Kills held in L.A. to commemorate the launch of "Dream and Drive," a collection of photographs from ten years on the road. The photographer, Kenneth Cappello, is on the right. I don't recall what Alison was laughing at. Jamie occasionally made fun, inquisitive faces at people's cameras. Mosshart and Hince are fine, affable people, and the evening was enjoyable. I decided this week to go back, re-process the photo, and post it here.
