MARY MISSPAIN AGAINST OBJECTIFIED WOMAN

With extremely dry drought conditions throughout the eastern states this is a photo to tell a story not to shock you.

Wildlife in particular kangaroos are attracted to roadside edges for what little moisture and green pick fetches up in the gutters. The resulting clash with cars is plentiful.

In this shot one is in the foreground while three lie further back. This is the Monaro Hwy in NSW where virtually hundreds of roo carcasses line the road.

There is no shortage of kangaroos in these parts where they are considered to be in plague proportions however moves to cull them have proven politically impossible.

Kill Baby Kill!

October 1st, 2010

Anniston, Alabama

We saw a leopard kill a baby wart hog. This photo was taken the following morning after the big cat had eaten half of the piglet. She left the kill in the tree all night to keep it from the hyena (who showed up before the hog was even dead).

The Kills @ Richards On Richards in Vancouver, BC, CANADA on 14 May 2008.

An off-topic, yet somewhat still relevant fact - I always wondered why so many places in the North Jersey and a large part of Upstate New York have the word "Kill" in so many of the place's names. I learned that the word "kill" is old Dutch for "creek" or "river"; which makes sense - "Fishkill", "Wallkill", "Peter's Kill", "Verkeerder Kill", etc.

The stoat (Mustela erminea), also known as the short-tailed weasel, is a species of Mustelidae native to Eurasia and North America, distinguished from the least weasel by its larger size and longer tail with a prominent black tip. The name ermine is often, but not always, used for the animal in its pure white winter coat, or the fur thereof.[2] In the late 19th century, stoats were introduced into New Zealand to control rabbits. The stoats have had a devastating effect on native bird populations (see stoats in New Zealand).

It is classed by the IUCN as Least Concern, due to its wide circumpolar distribution, and because it does not face any significant threat to its survival.[1] It was named one of the world's top 100 "worst invasive species" by the IUCN Species Survival Commission's Invasive Species Specialist Group.[3]

The ermine luxury fur is often used by Catholic monarchs, Pontiffs and Cardinals who sometimes use it as the mozetta cape, and devotional images such as the Infant Jesus of Prague. It also forms part of the parliamentary and coronation robes of British peers of the Realm.

Major General John F. Reynolds was the highest ranking officer killed at the Battle of Gettysburg and is one of the most senior officers to die in the Civil War. His decision to commit his infantry west of Gettysburg set the course of the fighting, but his death early in the battle was a serious blow to the Union Army.

Major General

John Fulton Reynolds

United States Volunteers

Born September 21, 1820

Killed July 1, 1863

From the reverse of the equestrian monument:

Cadet U.S.M.A. July 1, 1837; Brevet Second Lieut. 3d U.S. Artillery July 1, 1841; Second Lieut. October 23, 1841; First Lieut. June 18, 1846; Captain March 3, 1855; Lieut.-Colonel 14th Infantry May 14, 1861; Colonel 5th Infantry June 1, 1863.

Brig. General U.S. Volunteers August 20, 1861;

Major General November 29, 1862. Breveted Captain U.S. Army September 23, 1846 “for gallant and meritorious conduct at Monterey, Mexico;

Major February 28, 1847 “for gallant and meritorious conduct at Buena Vista, Mexico.

The equestrian statue was sculpted by Henry Kirke Bush-Brown, who also did the Meade and Sedgwick equestrian statues and the bust of Lincoln in theLincoln Speech Memorial, It was dedicated in 1899, with Reynolds’ nephew Charles Reynolds Evans pulling the cord that unveiled the monument.

The statue weighs four and a half tons, yet is superbly balanced with only two of the horse’s feet on the ground. The monument follows the universally denied “rule” (or coincidence) that a monument’s horse with two feet off the ground indicates its rider was killed in battle.
