This is the Kmart department store located at 4025 Poplar Level Road in Louisville, KY. It originally opened in 1972 with a Kmart Foods store attached to one side of the store. Around 1975, the Kmart Foods concept was no more, and that space closed. It would remain empty until the late 1990s/early 2000s, when Kmart decided to expand into the former Kmart Foods space. They had built a new entrance in order to do this. However, the original arch structure that had served as the store's entrance still stands, and as the window/door spots were walled off, it now serves mainly as decoration. It was closed in mid-2016 as part of a round of Kmart and Sears store closings.

This is the Burger King hamburger restaurant located at 100 Black Gold Court within the Black Gold Plaza in Hazard, KY. It opened in 1990 not long after the rest of the main Black Gold Plaza had opened for business, and is the only Burger King for many miles around to have a huge playground (and for that matter, the only major fast food restaurant in Hazard to have one). Aside from outside signage changes, it is still virtually unchanged since its opening.
This is the Wal-Mart Supercenter located at 120 Daniel Boone Plaza in Hazard, KY. It had originally opened in April 14, 2004 after opening at its original location on April 3, 1989 at the Black Gold Plaza across town. This Supercenter has a Subway restaurant, pharmacy, 1-Hour Photo lab, vision center, Tire & Lube Express and a portrait studio (while the original Wal-Mart only had a pharmacy and a snack bar). It was remodeled in early 2010, and reopened on June 4, 2010.
This is the Dairy Queen Grill & Chill restaurant located at 800 Hazard Road in Whitesburg, KY. It opened on June 8, 2021 as a replacement location for the longtime DQ near downtown Whitesburg at 1537 Jenkins Road that had been operating under various names (Burger Queen, Druther’s and Dairy Queen) since sometime in the 1970s. That location is now vacant once DQ moved here; prior to Dairy Queen, this location had housed an auto dealership until the late ‘70s, a small Lowe’s store from 1981 to 1996, and a CarQuest auto parts store from 1998 until 2006, in which the building was demolished until construction started on the new DQ in January 2021.
This is the Food City supermarket located at 251 Medical Plaza Lane in Whitesburg, KY. It oiginally opened August 1997, and was remodeled in April 2009. It is unique among Food City stores in which it has a pharmacy that is not owned and operated by Food City themselves (it is actually a local pharmacy leasing space from Food City). It also gained a Gas 'N Go gas station in January 2004, and had expanded into the space formerly used by East Kentucky Physical Therapy (which moved into its own building in front of the Gas ‘N Go) in early 2017. In March 2020, Food City expanded once more and opened a wine and spirits store, being only one of 3 Food City stores to have a separate entrance for liquor sales due to Kentucky state law (the others being in Louisa, KY and Pikeville, KY).
This is the Wal-Mart discount store located within the Jackson Village shopping center at 1589 Kentucky Highway 15 South in Jackson, KY. It originally opened on July 16, 1985 as one of the center's two anchors (Winn-Dixie being the other anchor), as well as eastern Kentucky's third Wal-Mart store. It was given a pharmacy in the early 1990s as well as a portrait studio. The portrait studio closed around 2006, and the store was remodeled around the spring of 2010.
This is the Wal-Mart department store located at 210 Black Gold Blvd in the Black Gold Plaza shopping center in Hazard, KY. It originally opened on April 3, 1989, and was remodeled and expanded alongside the Wal-Mart store in adjacent Whitesburg, KY. In doing so, this store not only received more sales space as well as a larger pharmacy (which the store has always had since its 1989 grand opening), but for a few years in the '90s, the snack bar was converted to a McDonald's restaurant (it would revert to a Radio Grill by 1999). Also, this store eventually adopted expanded hours due to continued success twice: from 2000 to 2002, it was open from 6:00 AM to midnight daily, and from 2002 onward, it would be open 24/7, one of the few non-Supercenters in the area at the time to have such hours. It would relocate to a Supercenter at 120 Daniel Boone Plaza in Hazard on April 15, 2004, leaving this building vacant until 2007, when Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH), which owns and operates the city's hospital, purchased the building and converted it into a large outpatient clinic.

This was the sign for the Kmart store in Hazard, KY. Since its closure on May 6th, the Big Kmart logo has been spray painted over. I will definitely miss shopping here on a regular basis.
This is the Wal-Mart department store located at 201 Walton Road in Harlan, KY. It originally opened its doors on December 31, 1991. It has been given a remodel in 2005 (which included a new Subway restaurant (replacing the generic snack bar that the store originally had as well as a connection center). This one is fairly large as far as regular Wal-Marts go. It received a third remodel in late 2011, giving it the new Wal-Mart logo, and received a fourth remodel in early 2017 sporting a new paint scheme and a new Pickup section.
