Not just a past but a piece of heart

Insania had these roses sent to me while he was away in Alaska during our first summer together. I saved them for years and had them displayed in our old house; upon moving, I decided it was time to let go. I threw them in the bin, but I still have this photo as a lovely reminder.

This is the vial that I had put dried flower petals from my grandpa's funeral in earlier this year. The shell casing is from the funeral also, he had a veteran's funeral. I put a brass bird on his necklace, because he loved birds.
