The three pearls and small diamond came from earrings my grandmother had received from my grandfather on one of their anniversaries. I had two rings made from the pair of earrings, one for me and one for my daughter, and we both wore them on her wedding day.
This is my grandfather's pocket watch. He was a watchmaker and uses this watch as a basis for setting all other clocks.
It still works!

Macro Mondays: Card
This is a small collection of some greeting cards that I have received over the years. I like to look back and read the personal handwritten messages of love and encouragement written by my family and friends. ❤️
Thank you so much for your visit, comments and faves. HMM to all!
Macro Mondays theme: keepsake
This string of silver and amber beads were gifted to me from my precious Amber, miss you forever my dear.
For Macro Mondays, ''Keepsake''.
My labrador deceased 7 years ago. This was her collar and tag. I still think about her every day.
I've got many keepsakes, but these two are special.
My son's gold baby bracelet and my daughter's gold earrings. Both pieces of jewelery were bought by my mother from the coins my father saved in a delft blue vase. Unfortunately, my father passed away before my children were born.
This napkin ring belonged to my mother, it is a loved keepsake reminding me of her.
I also have my father's napkin ring, but this one looked better for the photo and two was too much.
This is a little over 4,5 cm.
Happy Macro Monday.

but not that of having had one."

In 2013 I bought beads for a bracelet for my friend, I couldn't finish it on time; she passed away the following month. She was suffering from many diseases. I still keep a total of ten of these beads in a box with other things of hers, including photos. You will always be remembered, Cuka!
"Eguzkilore" translated from Basque into German means flower of the sun (silver thistle). It is said to protect against evil spirits and is placed at the entrances of houses.
I brought the pendant back from my trip to the Basque country, from San Sebastian, and wear it on a chain.
"Eguzkilore" übersetzt aus dem Baskischen ins Deutsche bedeutet Blume der Sonne (Silberdistel). Sie soll vor bösen Geistern schützen und wird an den Eingängen der Häuser angebracht.
Ich habe mir den Anhänger von meiner Reise ins Baskenland, aus San Sebastian, mitgebracht und trage ihn an einer Kette.
This is one of the tie clasps that belonged to my Dad. He had a small collection of these things because he liked to get into a suit and tie as often as he could. He never worked at a job that required anything more than standard blue collar garb so putting on a suit meant there was a special event happening. I don't think I have a picture of him wearing this other than a mental image I keep as a memory. It's about 25mm x 54mm. HMM! Thanks for any views, faves and comments.
The old-looking one at the front is stretching my memory a bit ... it was from my Uncle & Aunt who had just been to Japan for a World Expo ... internet research suggests that was 1970. I keep it because it reminds me of them :)
Macro Mondays: Keepsake. Looking after Grandchildren on Mondays so I’ll catch up in a day or two.

I don't post MM outtakes often anymore, but this time it had been a really difficult choice between two images, and I also didn't want this image to end up in a permanent hard drive slumber. So here is MM choice No 2 that simply didn't make it to the group's pool because it looks a little weird (I like it weird, though), and not as elegant as my official upload. Most of the weirdness here probably derives from the fact that I had taken some photos with the watch placed upside down (and rotated this one to the left twice in LR) because it was easier to get a clear image of the 12 and the moving cursor at the same time this way.
Some of you may know that my Dad's watch had officially been declared "out of order for good" by a watchmaker many years ago and that it had miraculously started to work again when I photographed it for our November 2022 theme "Vintage". Well, I'm happy to say that it still runs happily and steadily, and this so much so that it runs really fast because it apparently always likes to be ahead of (the correct) time – but that doesn't matter at all as long as it keeps working ;)
What surprisingly also still works, is the lume on the hour and minute hand, even if it only glows for a few seconds after being activated by a strong light source. In this image, however, the lume glows courtesy of a few Lightroom sliders ("Lightlume") because it had not even crossed my mind to activate the lume during my MM Keepsake photo shoot. To make it look glowing, I masked the lume part, increased the whites, and tweaked the tone in the white balance menu. The fan-like effect on the moving second hand once again is a result of using the in-camera Live ND filter. And the colourful texture in the upper left corner is the Nato strap I keep the watch on. The watch has an unusual 19mm lug width and curved spring bars on top of that, and an 18mm Nato strap was the easiest way to fit it with a fresh-looking new strap (ordered from Esprit Nato in Paris because that's the only store that offers almost all the different colours and patterns a Nato strap can have with gold hardware).
Happy Mittwochsmakro, and happy hump day as well :)
Macro Monday - Keepsake.
My wife's charm bracelet. She spent the summer before her senior year in high school with a Swiss family, under the auspices of AFS. She bought this Swiss charm during her stay...

This is one side of an open-faced gold locket, left to me by my mum, who in turn inherited it from her mother-in-law, my nana. The picture is a hand painted miniature of my nana (Frances Susan Maude Pye, née Clarke), and it dates from about 1920. The other side shows my grandad (Herbert Felix Pye), who sadly died before I was born.
The locket measures 1.25" in diameter.

The Umbrella was a wonderful invention to keep off the rain and the sunny day sunlight. These two share an Umbrella on a rain day walk.
In our small family, each birthday starts with a keepsake. The family member having the birthday is kept in bed while the living room is decorated. The rest of our family has discussed and agreed on a birthday theme without revealing it. Here, being reflective, observant and most of all creative pays off. The theme may signal some interest, new hobbies, new travels or travels to be, or changes the family has seen.
The photo is a garland we set above the breakfast table. It is a tradition we have kept for more than 25 years and it is still a joy... to celebrate life...
And of course, once the room is ready the family sings a birthday song while entering the bedroom and guides the birthday person to the living room... you should see the faces....
Last theme? my birthday, They chose colors as a theme... at my age, I have gone much more colorful this last year... on clothes and many other accessories... even my photos have got more color... and I realized when I entered the room :-)
Celebrate life... as much as possible
