On July 25, 1953, New York City’s subway fare was raised to 15 cents. Instead of making subway riders have three nickels each time, the city introduced the subway token, which became a symbol of the city until it was phased out for the MetroCard in 2003. In 1986, the “bullseye” token was introduced, with a circle of silver-colored metal in the middle of the brass token. When it was introduced, subway fare was $1. HMM!

For Macro Mondays - Glass
A 25 mm glass marble that had belonged to my Grandfather. I have 12 in the set.
This necklace, unfortunately broken, belonged to my great grandmother. I never knew her as she lived in Leeds, U.K.
She lived a life like the tv show Downtown Abbey
I think they are moonstones.
Macro Mondays theme keepsake. I got this Star Trek badge at a Star Trek store. I think it was a the mall in Caesars Palace Las Vegas. the pin is about 2 inches at it's long point.
I rarely wear jewellery, scarves etc but I did keep some of my mother's things as keepsakes. She always wore some kind of beads, and liked bright colours, reds and yellows. We did both like turquoise so I kept these ones. When she was alive her home was always filled with laughter, even when she was ill; that's something you can't keep in a box. I try to be more like her now that I'm older and wiser.

Hayden is the hush before the storm, the one who sees the cracks in me before they split. I am the hand that keeps him upright when the night hunts him. We circle each other in silence, shadows bound by something no one else can name ... pulling each other back when the edge calls, and daring the world to try and take us.
The painted blown egg in front was a present given by my brother and sister-in-law. The egg on the left was blown and painted by my daughter many years ago.

Keepsake of the birth of my daughter in 1980. At that time there was a ball bracelet instead of a barcode stripe! Do you still have your child's barcode strip today?

Event keepsake
A friend asked me to do a
photo shoot of some flowers
that were used in a celebration
for her daughter. This is one of
several dozen shots that I took.
The MM theme for 6/26 is keepsake and this takes a bit of explanation. A while ago my SIL found a glass class for us to take together and we both each made a paperweight and a slump bowl. It was a very hands-on class and she even took some video of the process.
So this week I took dozens and dozens of pictures trying to capture how cool this paperweight truly is and discovered anew that it’s not easy shooting into a glass object. In a bit I’ll add two pictures that show it a bit farther out and the size verification picture as well
