On July 25, 1953, New York City’s subway fare was raised to 15 cents. Instead of making subway riders have three nickels each time, the city introduced the subway token, which became a symbol of the city until it was phased out for the MetroCard in 2003. In 1986, the “bullseye” token was introduced, with a circle of silver-colored metal in the middle of the brass token. When it was introduced, subway fare was $1. HMM!
For Macro Mondays 'Keepsake' theme - my father died very unexpectedly in 2009 and these are the last few letters he wrote to me. They'd be of no value to anyone else but completely precious to me.
For Macro Mondays - Glass
A 25 mm glass marble that had belonged to my Grandfather. I have 12 in the set.
my daughter gave me soon after she married (24 years ago). I've always loved it but seldom wear it because I'm afraid I might break it's fragile tail...
Macro Mondays theme 'Keepsake'. At the beginning 1980s I rode everywhere on my 500cc Honda and carried my Olympus Trip 35 with me. Not the most stunning images given that I went on to things like a Bronica SQA, but it reliably produced a record of my travels. Eventually film seemed to be dead, along with much maligned bikes like my Honda CX500... both that model of bike and Olympus Trip 35s now fetch good money. I acquired 2 of the little Trips and I am keeping one as a reminder of what always seems to me like a better time... all I need now is a tidy example of one of Honda's more quirky yet successful machines.
Macro Mondays theme keepsake. I got this Star Trek badge at a Star Trek store. I think it was a the mall in Caesars Palace Las Vegas. the pin is about 2 inches at it's long point.
A pin from Dundee that I was given when G and I were members of "The Auld Alliance,"

Hope it's within the 3in rule, I can crop it if necessary.
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :)
I rarely wear jewellery, scarves etc but I did keep some of my mother's things as keepsakes. She always wore some kind of beads, and liked bright colours, reds and yellows. We did both like turquoise so I kept these ones. When she was alive her home was always filled with laughter, even when she was ill; that's something you can't keep in a box. I try to be more like her now that I'm older and wiser.

I had a celebration with 16 lady friends when I recently celebrated another birthday with an '0' at the end.
All women were from different stages and aspects of my life. I have a friend whom I have been friends with since school who made my wedding dress. She brought me this special keepsake. it's good to see she hasn't lost her touch!

For "Macro Mondays" ; theme : "Keepsake".
“When I finish dressing before a night out and have put on all the accessories, I usually look at myself in the mirror long and hard and then end up removing something. Whether it's a belt, bracelet or a bauble, less is always more.” – Dame Joan Collins (English actress, author and columnist).
Like Joan Collins, I am a great fan of jewellery, especially if it contains either diamonds or sapphires – the latter being my birthstone – however, like her, I also know that less is always more. It was something I was taught as a child by my grandmother and have never forgotten it. For the theme for “Looking Close on Friday” for the 12th of June of “bracelet on white background” originally left me wondering what I could photograph. I have bought, inherited and been given a great many pieces of jewellery over the years: brooches, pins, necklaces, but I don’t have very many bracelets as I don’t wear them. In fact, I only have two bracelets in my possession. One is a very old and rare Vulcanite (early form of plastic) mourning bracelet which is extremely fragile considering it comes from the 1890s. The other is the bracelet which I used in this photograph. It was given to me on my birthday some years ago by my mother. It is a Hawaiian souvenir. Bought in the early years of the Twentieth Century it must have been a keepsake originally bought by someone quite wealthy, for the bracelet is made from hand made sterling silver links that are patterned with flowers on the reverse, and each one of these delicate blossoms is hand carved from shell before being affixed to each link with a sterling silver rivet. You will notice some small bits of black on the three flowers you can see the reverse of. Although worn by time and quite literally from ware, they are the remnants of artist’s name who carved the flowers. It is a dainty piece of jewellery, and one of the few American pieces I own. I hope that you like my choice for the theme this week, and that it makes you smile!
We discovered our wedding napkins? in a keepsake box and a stained glass yellow heart made by our sophomore high school, son made for Mother's Day, 31 years later, After 55 years, the juxtapositions are interesting..
Rolling east across Indiana, M576 knocks down the now removed signals at East End Butlerville. As I'm sure many are aware, these signals were sold to a local scrapyard upon their removal from service, leading to a frenzy of fans trying to to get their hands on a head. When all was said and done, I was lucky enough to walk away with the WAS from East End Butlerville. Having a signal I shot on so many occasions is a great keepsake from all the time I spent covering the Indiana Sub, and I'm thrilled to have my hands on this piece.
Hayden is the hush before the storm, the one who sees the cracks in me before they split. I am the hand that keeps him upright when the night hunts him. We circle each other in silence, shadows bound by something no one else can name ... pulling each other back when the edge calls, and daring the world to try and take us.
This is not the first time I take photos of this ring (actually two rings that mingle into one). It reminds me of one of my first journeys with my husband. We travelled through Ireland, and one of the places we visited was Kilkenny, where I immediately fell in love with this ring when I saw it in the shop window of a local goldsmith.
It has been a Keepsake since then, always reminding me of this beautiful country (one of my favourite vacation destinies over the centuries :) and the beginning of our wonderful travels to so many beautiful places on this earth. 💖💖💖
One of my attempts for the Macro Monday theme 'Keepsake'
The painted blown egg in front was a present given by my brother and sister-in-law. The egg on the left was blown and painted by my daughter many years ago.

Macro Mondays: Keepsake
I was very close to my paternal grandmother and great-grandmother. Every year, they would send me a cute birthday card in which they would tell me about their life, their garden, their cats... They were the most priceless gifts, and I have kept each and everyone of them preciously.
