"The idea behind a kaleidoscope is that it’s a structure that’s filled with broken bits and pieces, and somehow if you can look through them, you still see something beautiful. And I feel like we are all that way a little bit."
- Sara Bareilles
Sucks when you have the day off but your body clock wakes you up at 4am anyway

There is a lot that isn't technically correct with this single image shot, but I thought it did a good job of showcasing the various aspects of the aurora on Uttakleiv Beach. Pretty much convinced we weren't going to see or photograph the aurora at all on this trip, we were graced with a 20 (maybe 30) minute window on this one evening; and were certainly glad to have it. A lot of factors have to come together to capture this phenomenon, and I'm glad we were prepared and lucky at the same time. Looking forward to sharing a couple more from this evening.
Have a great weekend and thanks for looking!

Some dates just carry magic. Almost without planning, many of my favorite images this year — from Cherry Lives in Her Fairytales to delicate magnolia close-ups like this one — were all taken on this same day. When creativity runs low, it’s always nature that brings me back. Flowers, in particular, seem to whisper new ideas.
Kaleidoscope is a reminder of that quiet renewal.
After that iconic shot I upped earlier, I tried out some more long exposure shots of the cube houses. Again I took my time for framing it. When I reviewed this shot on my camera, I was completely blown away. I think it's my most lucky long exposer shot ever made. The cloud movement is perfectly parallel to the roof, from left to right, amazing.

No software wizardry, the main subject is a photo SooC. I did tidy up the surrounding black and cut a 4:3 crop. But what is it…?

Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. All comments and Faves are very much appreciated
"There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope. We give them a turn and they make new and curious combinations. We keep on turning and making new combinations indefinitely; but they are the same old pieces of colored glass that have been in use through all the ages." Mark Twain

Prism — Submotion Orchestra
In this sky
Summer dream
Gently falls, gently falls, gently falls
Like a paper plane
All the world
Monochrome
It collides, it collides, it collides
Into every light
Now I see
Now I see
Now I see
Dust settles on
Kaleidoscopes
Perhaps your eyes, perhaps your eyes, perhaps your eyes
Are stars after all
Now I see
Now I see
Now I see
