I photographed this camellia japonica bloom in my dad's garden yesterday. I was mesmerized by the shapes and arrangement of the petals, and it reminded me of the kaleidoscope I had when I was a child!

Kaleidoscope is my word for 2017 because I enjoy celebrating the balance of random and structure.

Looking up into the canopy of a Japanese Maple tree whose leaves are turning all the colors of the rainbow. This shot was again taken at an old Philadelphia mansion, Glen Foerd, where the owners had an affinity for trees and planted many different varieties (including maples). Enjoy the kaleidoscope of autumn while it lasts!

This is a WIP, I used a kaleido ruler to cut the triangles and this was suprisingly very easy to put together!
A chilly morning frost creates beautiful & colorful bokeh,...photograhed as the sun was rising.

There are several collective nouns for a group of butterflies including swarm, flight and flutter. However, my favorite is kaleidoscope. This kaleidoscope of Monarch Butterflies was found in a eucalyptus grove in Pismo Beach, CA.
A Flower Kaleidoscope is a kaleidoscopic image created in Ultra Fractal 6. It is a part of a series.
This photo when cropped reminds me of a view though a kaleidoscope.
It was an amazing day at Tea Lake in Algonquin PP. The sun was bright and at a perfect angle to photograph this scene.

The rain stopped, the cool wind started to blow lightly agaisnt the old stone. Newly filled water sparkling in the dark, tempting anyone passing by for a cool drink.
Fluttering wings with dashes of yellow, blue, green and pink appeared one by one coloring the faded fountain and giving company to the frozen ones.
Splashes of laughter, memories and inner peace was experienced while he watched them playing in the rain water. It almost reminded him of his long gone youth. Those days he played in puddles of rain or splashed in the ocean. What about chasing bubbles and watching the Kaleidoscope of colors shift in the sunlight? Or that rainbow after a stormy rain.
P.S. Thank you to a dear friend for the happy birds. I enjoyed placing them around, coloring them. They are so cute.
