Japan, march 2011. Old pictures from a trip in Japan, more than five years ago.
I went on a long walking trip in the Kyoto area and along the Seto Inland Sea with my friend Charlie.
A great experience that shaped my passion for photography.
It was also at the same period that the earthquake and the tsunami of march 2011 hit Japan.
We were completely safe and far away from danger, but we had to go back to France earlier than expected.
Sometimes when I look at these quiet and peaceful photographs, it somehow feels special, in contrast with what happened to this country at that exact moment.
I made a book about it, available on Blurb :

This is my bestest friend JP, and this year is her 10th wedding anniversary. In honor of this happy occassion, we went to the California State Fair tonight and did a "Trash the Dress" session since when she got married I wasn't a wedding photog and couldn't take bitchin' pictures - plus her hair wasn't nearly as cute as it is right now. I think it was worth the wait.
More to come...
One of my favorite trees at a local park, I love how it leans over the water and the initials that are carved so artfully on the huge scar left by removing a very large limb. The tree was in heavy shade so I had to do some serious adjusting to get the carving to show up.

The electric pulse of Dotonbori flows like a heartbeat, casting colours across the waterâs skin. Beneath the gaze of the Glico man, stories unfoldâsome fleeting, some eternal. The air crackles with life, an endless carnival beneath a canvas of light.
