#JJ_EXPLAINED- Are you new to the community? It's not as confusing as it seems at first. :-). Here's the deal. Sometimes it can be hard to get your pictures seen and find inspiring photographers to follow. That's why I created the forum 3 years ago. It's a place to come together for inspiration and encouragement.

Every morning, NYC time, we make a post announcing our new theme and tag. Your job is to tag images that fit the theme. You can use shots you have already posted but we really love to see the theme inspire you to find new shots. The @jj_editors, @kevinkuster and I scour the tag and repost our favorite submissions through out the day. Over half a million people might see your pic! Pretty cool stuff.

We are ALL about keeping things simple, but in the spirit of our motto, "Create to connect", we ask that you follow our only "rule". We call it the 1-2-3 rule. For every 1 image you tag, comment on 2 in the tag and like 3 others.

Glad you're here. Can't wait to see your shots. Speak up if you have questions or comments. We like to think this is the friendliest place on the internet. :-).

kevinkuster: @yomap lives and works in the #jj shadows! He is the man, behind the man, behind the man! (Devilish laugh bellows out loud.) Plus he is the long arm of our JJ legal team. Emily has her hands full in all kinds of IG stuff and JJ commmunity. I actually think Emily sincerely knows EVERYONE on JJ and Instagram. And no that is not a joke. She also runs our theme every Tuesday and most importantly provides some seriously needed estrogen to balance out all the JJ testosterone.

Since attending the workshop was the best thing I did last week, I decided to post this shot I created at the event.

Hey it's @kevinkuster.

Let's talk about a subject that NO one likes to talk about... ENVY!

We all struggle with envy at times and we all deal with it in different ways. I have learned it is way better to acknowledge my envy by embracing it and then allowing it to motivate me rather then denying it. Difficult yes but, is really has it's benefits.

Josh and I are currently at the @usopenofsurf. I got up really early today to get out and shoot a few surf and beach shots. When I got to the beach their were a least 100 photographers shooting with huge 300mm, 600mm and even 1200mm lenses all over the place!

I know some of this gear can cost as much as a sports car but I will admit, I was really envious!

Man, "I want to rock one of those huge lenses and catch some killer surf shots!" As I grew more and more envious and calculate if I was fast enough to "borrow" one of these huge lenses without the owner knowing as he sipped his morning coffee, I decided to take a more rational, legal and creative choice.

I decide I would use my envy and create with it. I would "use" his 600mm lens in my mobile camera shot, write about my feelings and share my experience.

Man, that felt good to write! I think I just felt a little green envy monster jump off my back. Phewwww!

Anyone else want to share how they used their envy in a positive and creative way?

Hey guys. I can't say enough how much I appreciate all the hard work our editors put in every day. I'm so sorry to hear some of the new editor accounts have been deleted recently.

.

Let's first start by talking about what's going on. Bare in mind I have no inside information, but this is my best guess as I see it.

.

First of all it's important to understand it's not at all personal. No one has looked at your account and said "kill it". Basically, if your account was deleted, you are civilian collateral damage in the war between Instagram and the spammers. Put simply, a spammer wants to create tons of posts and Instagram wants to stop them. Because the whole goal for the spammers is volume. Both sides fight mostly with computers and formulas and not fingers on keyboards. So we know the planning field now.

The question is how to stay out of the line of fire. Answer. Do your best to look like someone with fingers and not a mindless computer. Here are some tips.

jj_editor_self_less_: Created my 3rd new account on Tuesday but still didn't get the conformation email. Yes, I'd searched in bulk mail & trash as well. That makes me worry now that I've read above... @joshjohnson @kris_prototype @wdnesday

jj_editor_diocampo_: The "new account" I made is actually an old account that I forgot I still have and still active. I just changed the bio and name. I was trying to ask Josh if there's a way for JJ to verify if someone is a bonafide editor of JJ community knowing that the current situation can be an opportunity for someone to pose as a JJ editor. I take pride for being approved as a new JJ editor and it would be unfair if someone can just pretend and edit. Josh said to just ignore and block people who are pretending. But I don't have a list of JJ editors and even my editor account have not been followed by @jj_editors since I created it. I don't want my editing job be ignored and blocked by the JJ community. @wdnesday

jj_editor_lmo413: I'm wondering if any of the new editors confirmed their accounts first time around. I didn't. But I didn't check my emails either. Saw it yesterday. I confirmed the new account.

kris_prototype: @tapurdevang2 I would suggest not to worry since email confirmation is not happening in every country or state it differs based on above criteria. Just do as @joshjohnson mentioned above. Don't worry just have fun with jj community :) & you also don't want to create to many account!!

What if our #JJ community motto, "Create to Connect", actually can help change the world?.

.

Sometimes it's hard to dream big. Ever wonder though, what if we've stumbled on something important?.

.

When I get home from vacation, I'll be punching the clock at 10pm tonight at a very humble job. IG fame is fun but, if you met the analog Josh, I promise you wouldn't be very star struck. :-) I wonder often, "Who I am to think about changing the world?" What gives me the nerve?.

.

To be honest, I guess it's your fault. :-). Time and again you guys tell me that Instagram and our #JJ community has really changed your life for the good, brought you authentic friends and more joy from living creatively. Your feedback has me hooked. I love the feeling of being a part of something important. Something good that I can be proud of.

.

It's been almost 4 years since I pulled over on the side of the road and tapped out my first "Instatip" to my 300 followers. I had no idea at the time but I believe, at that moment, I was a part of the beginnings of a movement. I was caught up on the leading edge of a swell of democratized creativity that is now sweeping the globe.

.

More images have been created and shared in the last few years than in all of history combined. Many millions of images have been submitted to our #JJ events and every one of them tells a story. A piece of who we are. And here's the magic. When we pull those pieces together something amazing happens. When we see humanity as a whole, we start to realize that we don't have to feel afraid. We understand don't have to feel alone. We don't have to be afraid. We can make it through the tough times and better yet, we can thrive. We can finally find the beauty in life that so often escapes us.

Hey it's @kevinkuster posting.

So Josh and I had the wonderful pleasure of getting to know this years Open Road Challenge winner @jeddjedd.

I must say it is really cool to see a "good guy" win the FIAT 500L again. After spending time with Jess, it is obvious that he has a great perspective in life and a really, really good heart! Please check out the non-profit work he does with @thesoldproject. Really powerful and worthy work!

Thanks again to everyone that participated in our 2nd #fiatorc and thanks @fiatusa!

Now if I could only figure out a way for @littlecoal (last years winner) to give me his FIAT 500L for 6 months and @jeddjedd his new FIAT 500L for the other 6 months I would be all set!
