This is a smaller bird than Greater Adjutant, it also does not have the throat extension or the coloured tissue area on the base of the neck. We found them to be quite common at Kaziranga. We also found several small colonies in large trees close to the main road from Twzpur to kaziranga.

It has a wide range in wetlands across India, Sri Lanka to s China, Indochina and Indonesia. The Largest Indian and world populations are in Assam, West Bengal and Bihar. Due to habitat loss the population is classed as IUCN Vunerable.

雖然WWF網頁提到牠是米埔內最常見的原生哺乳生物,但我還是今天才親眼見到牠的真身。

As mentioned in the WWF website, this little creature is a commonly encountered mammal at Mai Po, but it is only the first time I see it. What a lucky day!

Eel (Giant Moray) - Gymnothorax javanicus. These are very common where we dive. We see one on nearly every dive. They are a lot of fun because they seem so scary, but noboy that I've dived with has ever been bothered by one. We often stick our cameras right up in their faces.
