Banded Broadbill
The banded broadbill (Eurylaimus javanicus) is a species of bird in the Eurylaimidae family. It is found in Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. It is a large broadbill (21.5–23 cm), with purple, yellow and black plumage. It eats predominantly insects, including grasshoppers, crickets, katydids, various beetles, caterpillars and larvae.

Lepionurus sylvestris Blume. Opiliaceae. CN: [Malay and regional vernacular names - Chemperai, Chemperai gajah, Chipreh, Chipras, Pelir kambing, Kucing-kucing, Pokok mubin]. Distribution - Myanmar, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia to Java. Shrub to 3 m tall. Habitat - lowland and hill forest to 600 m. In Pahang a poultice of the plant or of the pounded roots, is applied to children's heads for headache.

La mangosta pequeña asiática (Herpestes javanicus), también conocida como mangosta índica o de Java, es una especie de mamífero carnívoro que habita al sur y sudeste de Asia. Ha sido introducida en diferentes partes del mundo.Esta especie habita en la mayor parte del sur de Asia continental, desde Iraq hasta China y también en la isla de Java, a alturas hasta de 2200 m. Se le ha introducido en cerca de una docena de islas del Pacífico y el Caribe, por ejemplo, Santa Lucia y Jamaica, y Puerto Rico , como también en Venezuela.Se alimentan principalmente de de insectos, pero son comensales oportunistas y pueden alimentarse de cangrejos,ranas, arañas, escorpiones, serpientes, aves y huevos de ave.Las mangostas son principalmente solitarias, sin embargo, en ocasiones pueden formar grupos y compartir madrigueras.. Una La introducción de las mangosta no tuvo los efectos deseados en el control de las ratas. Se dedicaron principalmente a alimentarse aves y huevos de ave, amenazando muchas especies nativas de las islas. La especie se reproduce prolíficamente; los machos son maduros a los cuatro meses y las hembras tienen camadas de 2 a 5 crías por año. Los principales síntomas en la mayoría de los casos son fiebre, cefalea, dolores musculares, articulares y óseos, ictericia, insuficiencia renal, hemorragias y afectación de las meninges La infección es comúnmente transmitida a humanos cuando agua que ha sido contaminada por orina animal se pone en contacto directo con lesiones en la piel, ojos o por las mucosas.
