The giant moray (Gymnothorax javanicus) is a species of moray eel found at reefs in the Indo-Pacific. In terms of body mass, it is the largest moray eel.

As the name suggests, this is a large eel, reaching up to 3 m (9.8 ft) in length and 30 kg (66 lb) in weight. While juveniles are tan in colour with large black spots, adults have black specks that grade into leopard-like spots behind the head and a black area surrounding the gill opening.

The Javan myna (Acridotheres javanicus), also known as the white-vented myna, is a species of myna. It is a member of the starling family.

The Javan myna is sometimes included in the great myna (Acridotheres grandis) or the jungle myna (A. fuscus). The International Ornithologists' Union recommends not using the name "white-vented myna" to avoid confusion.

The Javan myna is mainly black. The wings are brownish-black, and the primaries have white bases. The undertail-coverts are white. There is a crest on the forehead. The beak and feet are yellow. The eyes are lemon-yellow. The immature is browner. Its length is 21–23 cm (8.3–9.1 in). Its weight is about 100 g (3.5 oz).

The Javan myna is native to Java and Bali and has been introduced to southeast Thailand, southern Malaysia, Singapore, Sumatra, the Lesser Sundas, Taiwan, Puerto Rico, and Japan. It is found in cities and cultivated areas.

The Javan myna is omnivorous and eats seeds, fruit, nectar, insects and human waste. It is often found in large groups. Its voice is similar to that of the common myna. It builds its nest in holes. The eggs are bluish-glaucous. Javan mynas are bold and not afraid of humans.

學名: Chlidonias hybrida

英名: Whiskered Tern

Family : Sternidae (燕鷗科). Length: 25cm.

The whiskered tern (Chlidonias hybrida or hybridus) is a seabird of the tern family Sternidae. This bird has a number of geographical races, differing mainly in size and minor plumage details.

C. h. hybrida breeds in warmer parts of Europe and Asia. The smaller-billed and darker C. h. delalandii is found in east and south Africa, and the paler C. h. javanicus from Java to Australia.

The tropical forms are resident, but European and Asian birds winter south to Africa and the Indian Subcontinent. The summer adult has white cheeks and red legs and bill. The crown is flecked with white in the juvenile, and the hindcrown is more uniformly blackish, though in the winter adult this too is flecked with white. The black ear-coverts are joined to the black of the hindcrown, and the space above is mottled with white, causing the black to appear as a C-shaped band. The sides of the neck are white; this sometimes continues across the nape. The collar is less sharply defined. All through the year the rump is pale grey. In the juvenile, the mantle (279 mm) has a variegated pattern. The feathers of the back and scapulars are dark brown, with prominent broad buff edgings and often subterminal buff bars or centers.

Leptoptilos javanicus

Temples aside, you shouldn’t leave Siem Reap without exploring the fascinating string of lakeside villages (both floating and stilted) on the nearby Tonle Sap, the massive freshwater lake that dominates the map of Cambodia. The majority of these lake’s inhabitants are fishermen, mostly stateless ethnic Vietnamese who have been here for decades, despite being widely distrusted by the Khmer. Most live in extremely basic conditions, their livelihoods increasingly threatened by the government, which has awarded large fishing concessions to wealthy businessmen at the expense of local villagers and who now have to either practise their trade illegally or rent a share from a concessionaire.

The ever-increasing numbers of tourists visiting the Tonle Sap villages has provided an important new source of revenue, although the downside (at least from the visitor’s point of view) is the steady erosion of traditional local life and increasingly theme-park atmosphere, particularly at the coach-party honeypot of Chong Khneas, while even formerly quieter villages down the lake such as Kompong Phluk and Kompong Kleang are no longer wholly immune. For a more authentic view of the Tonle Sap, head to the floating villages near Pursat and Kompong Chnnang on the opposite side of the lake.

Eel (Giant Moray) - Gymnothorax javanicus. These are very common where we dive. We see one on nearly every dive. They are a lot of fun because they seem so scary, but noboy that I've dived with has ever been bothered by one. We often stick our cameras right up in their faces.

Bos javanicus

"These wild cattle are rare in the dense forests and bamboo jungles of South East Asia. Their numbers have dwindled due to habitat loss, hunting and diseases spread from domestic livestock.

Banteng are commonly seen in domestic herds, most notably on the island of Bali where they are known as 'Bali cattle'."

Striated or Little Heron (Butorides striatus)

Also called Little Heron, this small heron does not appear to have the long neck of other herons, although they can stretch its neck pretty far out. Adult has a grey plumage with black cap and head plume. Sexes similar. Juvenile has streaked brown plumage. May be confused with juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron, but can be differentiated by the more elongated shape of the latter. A very noisy bird when disturbed. Very common along water edges in Singapore. It is always interesting to watch this bird using bait for fishing. The bird drops a piece of bread (or insect, etc) on to the water surface and waits patiently for a fish to show up right in front of it.

Very common resident breeder, winter visitor

Local subspecies: javanicus

Height: 40-46 cm

Habitat: River, pond, coast, mudflat, mangrove

Distribution: Asia, Africa, Australia

Breeding: Year round in tropic; summer months in the East Asia

Nest: Flimsy stick nest in tree or bush near water

Diet: Small fish, crab, amphibian, insect, whatever they can catch
