As our boat changed direction, I managed to spot this isolated Lesser Adjutant. Yes, isolated, just like the bird's usual characteristic. The lesser adjutant stalks around wetlands feeding mainly on fish, frogs, reptiles and large invertebrates. They rarely feed on carrion. They may also take small birds and rodents particularly during the breeding season. They are solitary except during the breeding season when they form loose colonies. The breeding season is February to May in southern India and November to January in north-eastern India. The nest is a large platform of sticks placed on a tall tree.(Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary, Siem Reap, Cambodia, Apr. 2014)
Now doesn't he look rather formidable? This is the Moran Eel. Moray Eels or Muraenidae are a family of cosmopolitan eels. The approximately 200 species in 15 genera are almost exclusively marine, but several species are regularly seen in brackish water, and a few, for example the freshwater moray (Gymnothorax polyuranodon), can sometimes be found in fresh water. The smallest moray is likely Snyder's moray (Anarchias leucurus), which attains a maximum length of 4.5", while the longest species, the slender Giant Moray (Strophidon Sathete) reaches up to 13 ft. The largest in terms of total mass is the Giant Moray (Gymnothorax javanicus), which reaches 9.8 ft in length and can weigh up to 30 kg. (Emirates Park Zoo, Samha, Abu Dhabi, Jan. 2015)

The elephant trunk snake, aka trunk snake or Javan file snake, is a nonvenomous, freshwater and brackish water snake that can be found in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. They can be seen in the mouths of canals, estuaries, lagoons, rivers, and streams. These snakes face the threats of over-collection for the pet and leather trade, pollution, and habitat destruction. However, their populations are stable throughout their range. Thus they are listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
First the Stats...
Scientific name: Acrochordus javanicus
Weight: Up to 22 lbs.
Length: Up to 8 feet
Lifespan: Up to 15 years
Now on to the Facts!
1.) Thousands of these snakes are killed each year for their skin. Thousands more are killed for their meat, which is considered a delicacy in Asia.
2.) These snakes are sexually dimorphic in that females are nearly twice as long as males.
3.) They are ambush predators that lay in wait for passing prey to happen by.
4.) Elephant trunk snakes prey on amphibians and fish.
5.) Their skin is baggy and loose and almost appears as though it doesn't quite fit their body.
But wait, there's more on the elephant trunk snake!
6.) Females are gravid (pregnant) for up to 6 months.
7.) Like some other snakes, females are ovoviviparous in that they produce up to 17 young within eggs that stay within the female's body and are hatched internally, then the snakelets are born live.

Mongooses were introduced to Hawaii in 1883 in an ill-advised attempt to control the burgeoning rat population in agricultural sugar cane fields. Mongooses have not significantly impacted the rat population, because the former are active mostly during the day while the latter are active mostly at night. Negative impacts of the introduced Mongoose include predation on native birds and contamination of steams with bacteria causes leptospirosis in mammals including humans, birds, amphibians, and reptiles. Lin photographed this Mongoose while it groomed itself along a trail at the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden along the Hamakua Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii.
This delicate and incredibly shy little ungulate is closely related to deer. It can be found in southern Myanamar (Burma), Thailand and peninsular Malaysia. It is normally crepuscular or nocturnal, however several different animals came to drink early morning at the Nan Sing Water Hole in February 2012. This site is near Ban Maka Lodge and close to Kaeng Krachen National Park, Thailand. This animal is only 30cms high at the shoulder and has a habit of moving its limbs incredibly slowly so that it is difficult to pick up any movement. It is therefore superbly camouflaged against the dry leaves on the forest floor.
