Just trying my hand at the lighting for glass techniques spelled out in Light: Science and Magic.
I had two glasses on a barstool covered with a white sheet. I had a circular reflector with the black absorption panel acting as the background, and a white sheet hanging on a bookshelf to serve as the white edges.
PW'ed 580ex II behind the reflector firing directly into the white sheet.
Maybe next time I'll try it with some Jack in the glass...of course, then I'm liable to start sampling my subject.

Not technically being canned, but I'll leave the tag on anyway. This was the prototype batch of this recipe that I found while perusing the September entries for the Tigress' Can Jam, looking for something interesting to pour over waffles and using some of the last summer fruit.
I used 2 cups of Ontario peaches with Jack Daniels as the liquor. They were only let to sit in the sugar and booze for about 20 minutes before I cooked them up, and I wasn't too particular about the cooking time, since I was hoping for a runnier consistency. I found them a bit too sweet on the waffles, but upon later tasting (read: licking the spatula clean), I find that the peachy flavour still comes through quite nicely. The more I think about it, the more it's growing on me. I think I'll be chopping up some peaches tomorrow and letting them sit in the fridge for a night or two to soak up some flavour. While I can't see us going through a ton of this ourselves, it's definitely a good one to share.
This was exactly one pint that was left over after the waffle test. I'm thinking I should pick up some 5-year-old cheddar and a nice baguette to use it up... yum!

Another one from today in the lightbox, working on post production techniques to get the reflection right and blow out the background completely. Still not happy with the reflection but I think the background turned out a lot better than the other one. If anyone knows of any links to tutorials on reflections in photoshop please comment.
