And don't be stingy, baby!

Paraphrased from the movie "Anna Christie" with Greta Garbo. She asked for "ginger ale on the side." I always had a beer back with my Jack.

This is the entrance to the Jack Daniels Store in the Marathon Motor Works Mall, a reconverted late 19th century automobile manufacturing plant that now contains shops, a comedy club, and distilleries.

This is the headstone of Jack Daniel (Jasper Newton Daniel) in Lynchburg, Moore County, Tennessee.

The two chairs are said to be for the ladies that mourned his passing back in 1911 but local rumor says that many who savor the flavor of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey have been known to stop by just to visit an old friend.

Manufacturer: Morris Motors Limited / Morris Garages (MG), Longbridge - UK

Type: YA Sport Saloon / Y 1/4 Litre Saloon

Engine: 1250cc straight-4

Power: 46 bhp / 4.800 rpm

Speed: 115 km/h

Production time: 1947 - 1951

Production output: 6,158

Curb weight: 1030 kg

Special:

- Shortly after WWII the TEN-project restarted (started in 1939) and this new Saloon car was born: The Y Saloon (YA 1947-1951 / YB 1951-1953 1,301 builts).

- Gerald Palmer did the body styling.

- The Saloon (steel body with wood framework) had classic lines (postwar conservative British taste) and to lower the costs, many Morris Eight/Ten E-Series parts were used.

- The chassis though was not "conservative", but rather advanced with an independent suspension train (with leaf springs and beam axle rear, designed by Gerald Palmer and Jack Daniels), a floor gear lever and it had a lot of leather and wood interior.

- The speedometer, clock, and three-gauge cluster of oil pressure, fuel and ammeter, were set behind octagonal chrome frames.

- The separate chassis facilitated the built-in "Jackall System", which consisted of four hydraulically activated rams that were bolted to the chassis, two at the front and two at the rear. The jacks were connected to a Jackall Pump on the bulkhead that enabled the front, the back, or the entire car to be raised to facilitate a wheel change.

- The engine (XPAG) had a lower compression, a different valve timing and only one SU carburettor, to dampen the noise, but the performance did not improve.

- The four-speed manual gearbox powered the rear wheels and it had four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes.

- Many engines have a pimped like the TC (same engine / other adjustments) to improve performance.

- A steel sunroof, an opening windscreen and the detached spotlight were standard.

- Its MG Sales Literature stated: “A brilliant new member of the famous MG breed. This new One and a Quarter Litre car perpetuates the outstanding characteristics of its successful predecessors – virile acceleration, remarkable ‘road manner,’ instant response to controls, and superb braking. A ‘lively’ car, the new One and a Quarter Litre provides higher standards of performance”.

Bad day to be out, unless you like photography

Today's prompt was to take a photo of your subject close up, then step back and take another photo from a good bit farther away. Assess the amount of focus between the two objects.

Aperture is one way to manipulate depth of field. The other important factor that goes into depth of field is the distance between the lens and the object you are focusing on.

I found it interesting that both photos were taken at f/3.5 yet at the distance further away, both bottles are in focus.

Lesson of the day: The closer to the lens what you are focusing on is, the more room you have for blur far behind.

Below is a little info about Hervey Bay, Queensland Australia

www.facebook.com/The-SmOKing-Camera-Hervey-BaY-davefryer-...

Hervey Bay

bay/ˈhɑrvi ˈbeɪ/ is a city in Queensland, Australia.

The city is situated approximately 290 kilometres (180 mi) or 3½ hours highway drive north of the state capital, Brisbane. It is a natural bay between the Queensland mainland and nearby Fraser Island. The local economy relies on tourism which is based primarily around whale watching in Platypus Bay to the North, access to Fraser Island, accessible recreational fishing and boating and the natural north facing, calm beaches with wide undeveloped foreshore zones.

At the 2011 Australian Census the city recorded a population of 76,403.[1] Hervey Bay is an area of high population growth...

Climate

Hervey Bay has a mild climate with an average 30 °C (86 °F) in summer and 22 °C (72 °F) in winter. The coast is predominantly affected by the south east trade winds throughout the summer with occasional strong northerly winds and storm swells. These winds keep the temperatures down in summer and up in winter, preventing temperature extremes. As a result, Hervey Bay rarely experiences temperatures over 35 °C (95 °F) in summer or under 5 °C (41 °F) in winter.

Cyclones are a threat at times with Cyclone Hamish threatening in 2009 as a Category 5. The land mass of Fraser Island significantly affects the pattern of weather in Hervey Bay and protects the immediate marine environment from open ocean storm effects. Cyclone Oswald in 2013 caused significant damage in the area, mainly as a result of tornadoes spawned by the system. The average rainfall for the year is around 1,100 millimetres (43 in). December to March is the main rainy period, with a secondary peak in May and June. The months of April and from July to November are generally dry and sunny.

Whale watching

Hervey Bay is the whale watching capital of Australia, with humpback whales migrating along the coast between April and October every year. Researchers at the Oceania Project conducted a 14 year study which found the bay was an important social hub for humpback whales.[15] Whale number have increased from about 2,000 in 1992, to around 7,000 in 2005.[15] Hervey Bay is the resting place for Humpback whales, Mum's and Calves, they come to the Bay to rest and build up energy for their long travels back to Antarctica. The Adults come to play, socialise and there have been heat runs observed in the Bay. The Humpback Whales are known to be very relaxed in the company of the whale watching vessels.
