Ice Planet 2002- Ice Station Ody-"PC"

Is it Ice Planet 2002? Is it a computer?

It's both!

Brickworld 2025's theme was "Braving the Elements", so here is my AIR cooled ICE PLANET pc with a little FIRE and hot WATER thrown in to get as many elements as possible.

It is my latest attempt to merge my two hobbies- LEGO MOCs and custom-built PCs into one build! The PC components are mounted using LEGO elements, meaning there is no metal frame or screws involved anywhere in this build. The open frame PC "case" can be lifted from the MOC (after discounting the USB powered black light in the main control tower and the probe launch tower to the right of the CPU cooling fan) by the built in technic handle. Though who would want to lose the sweet MOC its built into? Check out some of my older posts to see the LL HoRyzen for a PC built into an orange spaceship!

PC Specs:

Ryzen 5600X3D

Gigabyte AORUS Pro AX B550I

32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro

Sapphire Pure Radeon 7800 XT

750-Watt Silver Stone ITX PSU

Yes, it can play Crysis :D

The Ice Planet MOC features all the classic Ice Planet hallmarks- a probe launch point and magnetic crane, neon orange accents and snowshoes, and a little spacecraft, modeled after a classic space fighter I previously built, but this time in Ice Planet trimmings. This built uses far less black than LEGO Ice Planet builds did- I substituted some dark blue into the doors instead, but kept the black on the probe. Some fun little LEGO stories going on as well with the Ice Planeteers bathing in the hot tube, the commander carving an ice sculpture, and the penguins roasting s'mores!

back when it was silly hot and very dry.

We are now having a cooler wetter period now so images like this will be few and far between for the foreseeable future.

I am having a right grumpy day today. Its one of those where i want to scream at the top of my voice then collapse and weep lol. Yeah none of that will happen the boy within won't allow it.

Itx all down to how my life is going to change and how things could turn out once this life i have gotten used to comes to a crashing halt because time won't allow the freedom i currently have and my hair is disappearing faster than i c an grow it thus the guy is returning with a vengeance. Both of these seem to be putting a smile on my partners face. In the end she will win the game it seems for she has never really accepted this life of mine and we all know how much they like to mould us to their ideal.

Don't worry just having a pre new job wobble things will be fine and i still have my wigs lol. Mind you i wore one last night and hell there was a lot of hair involved.

RIGHT backside kicked let the fight with myself commence this woman will not go down without a fight,

I know this all seems a bit strange writing about my feelings and sometimes what i say shocks or makes people feel uncomfortable but in truth this is the only place i can vent or just disclose my feelings without it leading to the Spanish inquisition.

Oh news i see a little sun outside darn its gone again

Travus got a wild hair and decided to build a gaming PC (at the ripe age of *12*). This was because there are some games that Travus and I want to play that are only available for the PC platform (we've been making due with our Macs for a long time).

Note that our family has been 100% Mac ever since the company came out with the Intel chipset (~2006) which also coincided with me focusing more on photography as the Mac platform was/is much better for such tasks.

Am loathe to own anything that comes out of Redmond when it comes to software (besides Skype), but am giddy at the POWER one can get for the money when it comes to PC-hardware (when compared to Macs).

Could've bought an off-the-shelf-top-of-the-line machine for ~$2k (no doubt saturated with 'bloatware'), but he/we decided to buy the parts separate and have Travus build it and save ~$600 (and be in 100% control of what software is installed from the start). Besides, there is something most-satisfying (from a Geek-point-of-view) in knowing that you're playing on a platform that you built from scratch ;-)

Picture of the final product; main components as follows:

1) Thermaltake Core V1 Mini ITX [case]

2) MSI Z97I Gaming ACK Mini ITX [motherboard]

3) Intel i7 4790k [cpu]

4) HyperX 16Gb (2x8GB) 2133MHz DDR3 [memory]

5) M.2 256Gb Transcend SSD [harddrive]

6) MSI GTX 970 4G [graphics card]

7) Corsair RM Series 650W [power supply]

8) Corsair H80i [liquid cpu cooler]

***Travus gives a: HUGE THANKS to my bro for doing all the hard work before he spec'd out the parts!

After we landed in Orlando I talked the flight crew into rebooting the entire system so I could take this picture. The guy in the green shirt knew a little about linux but the rest of the flight crew thought I was nuts.

They could also reboot each seat individually. I suspect there was some sort of mini-itx system built in to each console.
