I can't begin to tell you how happy this makes me.
It might only be a single button press, but it represents the closure of the exam season. This means that my days can get a but more productive now.
Not that I'm feeling particularly productive right now. I'm dog tired with a banging head. Long sleep needed...
- Knut's name day falls on the 20th day of Christmas, Jan. 13, when
there is one song that is sung as you dance around the tree or "plunder" it::
Nu är glada julen slut,slut,slut.
Julegranen bäres ut ,ut,ut.
Men till nästa jul igen,
kommer han vår gamle vän,
för det har han lovat.
in English:
Now is the merry Christmas over, over over
The Christmas tree is carried out, out, out
But for next Christmas again
he is coming back our old friend
because that’s what he's promised.
Knut was/is a rather festive day. At least up until 50 years ago. Children liked it a lot as the tree was often decorated with candy (candy canes, sugar decorations and smällkarameller/crackers with hidden bits of candy). All Christmas they had to look at these sweets without eating it, but on Knut all decorations were taken down and the candy could be eaten. That is called julgransplundring (Christmas tree looting).
As we no longer have much candy in the trees and few people want to eat old candy, it’s not as big as it used to be. Some still see it as a festive day and invite kids over for a kids party were they hand out candy. There are also some different local traditions.
So, today, here the process is almost done. ;-)

P.S. The tree did not go up until December 20, so I'm not really tired of it yet. ;-)
The license plate says it all, doesn't it? When I saw that I had to get a shot from the back which I ordinarily wouldn't have taken.
Santa and his reindeer are finished for the year and are taking a long awaited and deserved rest!
Hope you all have had a wonderful day and a super Merry Christmas!

Thank you for all the well wishes. The surgery went very smooth. I noticed when they put his bands on he had this red little rick/rack string on. He told me he made it this morning before we left. As I waited with him in prep. cause they only let one parent in that part, well he took it off and gave it to me to wear. I still have it on. I thought it was such a sweet little thing he made. He is feeling a little pain now that it's all over. I know the foot can be a very painful area, so I'm just hoping we get through this part quick and be on his way to healing up. We felt the support, well wishes and prayers. Thank you again flickr family;)
"It's over,
No longer,
I'll live to die another day...
Until I fade away.
It's not enough, it never is.
I knew this day would come to end,
The final fight I'll win..."
( From Breaking Benjamin's "Until the end")

It's all over so now it's time to take the long way home.
(in reality I took a little puddle jumper from O'Hare to Madison, the flight took all of 26 minutes!)

An empty bowl of salad signifies the end to another successful run of 365 days straight with pictures, I haven't missed a day since previous to January 1st, 2009. A bit OCD, surely it is but such is the way my life is meant to be!

i'm just going to forget about you and the past 8 years of destruction, lies, and deceit you're guilty of.
as of yesterday, it's a new day. everything you've made wrong, will be made right again.
This is it.
The final day.
Of course the final day took place exactly one month ago but still...here it is.
I don't know why it took me a month to load my last 365day shot. Maybe I didn't want the project to be over. Maybe my procrastination is really showing thru. Maybe just a little bit of both?
While doing the project I thought I would go on forever taking pictures of myself. I did not plan to stop when I came to the end of the first year. But when that last day came, I found that I really could not continue. Well at least not at this time. I think that may be why I did not post this shot at the time the project was over. Waiting to post it would force me NOT to take anymore shots of myself. Cause I really did not want to start out on my 2nd year by uploading my shots late. Of course who am I kidding? I never posted a shot on time the entire length of the project.
I learned a lot of myself this past year. I became comfortable with showing (at least the online world) parts of myself that I would NEVER show in public. I am getting better though at showing the actual public these parts of myself.
I made some really nice online friends and the best part was that I really did enjoy myself this past year. 2007/2008 was a really hard time for me. Most of the sad stuff happened BEFORE the project (like losing my job and my Uncle passing away). But then good stuff happened during this project year as well. I started back to school, we moved into a fantastic new place and I started a new job. A whole new career really.
Maybe now I will have some time to post some of the other photos I took this past year.

After much thought, I've decided to leave my 365 here and move on to another project. At this point I've missed so much that I no longer think it's worth continuing.
I'm still proud of my achievement, and I'm happy with the amount of photos I took, but it was hard to continue after two major bad events this year. I'm planning on doing a few smaller projects this year and the 52 weeks project, which I hope will be more manageable.
To everyone that has commented and viewed my photos, thank you so much :) I'm so happy to have met some awesome people through the 365 Knitterly Crafterly group :D and I hope to see some of you doing the 52 weeks this year! Thanks Gleek for setting it up :D
Ps. I need to re-number my photos as somewhere along the way I've miss-counted!
A sad weekend for all of us who love the Flying Pig. This maybe one of the last photos I ever take of 43106. The loco is pictured here at Oldbury Cutting on Day One of the Severn Valley Railway Winter Steam Gala, January 6th 2024. The next day was to be the last working of this fabiulous engine. It's future is undecided. The loco has been a part of the very fabric of this heritage line since the start. Farewell !

"Yeah, you still kiss me, but it's just on the cheek
Yeah, you still kiss me, but it's just on the cheek
Yeah, you still kiss me sometimes
But it's just on the cheek
You pull away so easily
And I still call you, but I get your machine
And I still call you, but I get your machine
And if I'm lucky, I guess, it's your roommate answering
But you're at the bar
Or at Gene's
And we go to dinner, but you won't hold my hand
We sit at the same table, but we don't play with our feet
Yeah, we still go to dinner sometimes
But we don't sneak a kiss
When the waitress turns around
And we still watch movies, but we don't share the couch
And we still rent movies, but we don't share the couch
Yeah, we still watch movies sometimes
But you don't lay in my lap
The plot is slow, take a nap
You even stay over, but we stay in our clothes
Yeah, you'll even sleep over, but now we stay in our clothes
Yeah, you even sleep over sometimes
But we stay in our clothes
I'm only there so you're not alone
And you say that I hurt you in a voice like a prayer
Yeah, you say that I hurt you, and your voice is like a prayer
Yeah, well, maybe I hurt you sometimes
Let's contrast and compare
Lift up your shirt - the wound isn't there
I guess that your truth is just the ghost of your lies
I guess your kind of truth is just the ghost of your lies
Your kind of truth, darling, is just the ghost of your lies
I see through them all the time
So, I'm pouring some whiskey, I'm gonna get drunk
Yeah, I'm pouring myself some whiskey
I'm gonna get real fucking drunk
I'm pouring some whiskey right now
I'm going to get so, so drunk
That I pass out and forget your face
By the time I wake up... "

It's done.
Finally.
I can't believe it...
I completed my e-learning (and e-xhausting) Executive MBA yesterday :))))))))))))
And I'm realizing that... I'm done! Overdone. Almost finished, disintegrated, annihilated. One year of total madness (with usual job at the same time)... can't even think anymore about it. What a marathon. But happy, no, much more, I just reached the Nirvana of the stakhanovist masochist :DDD
Soon, the holidays, real holidays with no work, no reading, no exercise, no analysis, no XLS, no deadline. How strange. But, let me think... yep, I should make it ;)
A few days to reload ( or let's say a few hours in the North... I just need some real air, real oxygen, yeah that stuff that does not exist in rome :p ) and then... paaaaarty!!! and sleeeeep, or whatever.... ^__________^
Oh... I should update this stream, too...
only a few months of backlog... piece of cake!
(mmm...)
