A Snowy Egret gets annoyed at a Roseate Spoonbill wandering too close to its hunting grounds and puffs itself up as much as possible against the bigger bird.
Some things remain –
silent, still, observing what’s left behind.

I took this photograph a couple of years ago, mainly out of boredom. I was standing at the exact spot where I took it, waiting for a friend who was late. The image itself was insignificant. Other views that are more representative of Sitges, a seaside town close to Barcelona, are also available. It's well-known for its beauty and lively atmosphere. It's also where I used to spend my summers during my childhood and early youth.
I thought it wasn't worth sharing, so I decided to delete it. Then I had an idea: I'd try to reinvent the old postcards people bought when I was a kid. They were, somehow, similar to this shot: loud, overexposed, and of poor quality.
With the arrival of foreign tourists, greetings from... began to appear. Previously, it would have been "Recuerdos desde...", always in Spanish because Catalan was publicly forbidden and restricted to family settings.
They used to bear a stamp of some kind, such as a flag or a town shield.
Those who know the place will immediately realize it's a modern image. Apart from the way people are dressed, you can see buildings that didn't exist at that time.
I suppose those who have never seen anything like this, or who are not reading this explanation, won't like the photograph. Anyway, I had a great time editing it.
These beautiful raptors make an occasional stop through Northeast Ohio during their southern migration from the Boreal forests in Canada. They don't stay around very long with this one moving on after less than a day in one of the conifers at a local nature preserve. Shortly after I took this, a squirrel who was foraging in the same tree jumped from a nearby branch practically landing on top of the Owl. The Owl flew to an adjacent tree, burying itself deep within its branches. I’m not sure who was more surprised – the squirrel, the Owl or the onlookers. Pretty low light so I used a monopod for this one.

vuelven nuevamente a casa.
Seas quien seas, por muy sola que te sientas
el mundo se ofrece a tu imaginación,
y te llama, como los gansos salvajes, chillando con excitación
anunciando una y otra vez
tu lugar en la familia de las cosas." --- Mary Oliver

"You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting —
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things."--- Mary Oliver

Micro (macro) photographs of lit candles, showcasing the amazing art that's produced when a candle's wick burns and the candle's wax melts into incredible shapes.
It took me awhile to be able to expose properly for both the burning wick and the flame itself, and it's challenging to get a sharp focus as I shoot these handheld.
Click on the photo to view it large and better see the amazing details.

Taken from the field with lupines behind the visitor center, sometimes you don't need to go far so take good shots.
And, anyway, every image only halfway represents reality, whereas the other half is rather, more or less, fulfilling our imagination :-)

This exceptional church stands beside Avebury Manor, a stone's throw from the great henge and standing stones that draw thousands of visitors to the Wiltshire village of Avebury each year.
The church dates to around the year 1000 AD, and still has its tall, narrow Saxon nave, though this was later altered by the Normans, who also added aisles in the 12th century.
The most obvious survivors of the Saxon building are a pair of round-headed windows at ground level and four circular porthole windows at second-storey level. The chancel was rebuilt in the 13th century, and the chancel arch dates from this time. Separating the chancel from the nave is an original 15th-century rood loft. The rood itself was destroyed at the Reformation, and the base of the screen is Victorian, but the rest is original.

Romeo and Juliette by Indigo Girls
YOU KNOWETH ME SO WELL!! ; 0) – A Parody of Romeo and Juliet
We are just like those two kids from Verona you and I,
you know the ones who both get it all confused and die.
Except I am a Princess and you are my Prince
and our love is as mellow as a flowering quince.
You know the variety so tender and sweet
and where it comes from and where we will meet.
Not there for sure. but here where I am
or maybe where you are, but not in a jam.
Remember those taxis, the colour of fruit
and the hours you keep would better me suit.
I am trying to write this and make it to rhyme,
as I know 'As You Like It' so I'll beat to your time.
Come to think of it I'll also dance to your tune
and you know how I like to under the moon.
Hey man, not like that, so keep your mind pure.
If you call me mademoiselle, I'll call you monsieur
and maybe Count Paris as a possible place.
You know I once lived there and left a faint trace
of my perfume, yes that one and only for me.
I'm allergic to everything except that and the sea
and even that I'm afraid of if I get in too deep.
It's a metaphor of life and love, but not sleep.
You know I'm ok if you send me beep, beep.
A kiss is a must for star-crossed lovers who leap.
I live in a country where freedom of speech
still gets bleeped out by those who shorten our reach,
but you know I know nothing about political matters,
so back to our romance of endless night chatters.
Me up on high on my Juliet balcony.
You down below with your heart beating for me.
Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou?
Are you hearing my plea or milking a cow?
What are those noises I hear down below?
Has a pig found some truffles on the lawn that you mow?
We both live on islands surrounded by sea.
Now drink up your latte, it's poison to me.
Relieve me of sad tears and replace them with sunny,
golden and sweet are your kisses like honey.
I fall on my pen, not a dagger for me.
It's more compelling and mighty
and WE LOVE poetry!! ; 0)

A thick fog presented itself on a morning where I had little time. I quickly searched around in the woods behind my house and found a solitary beech tree as a point of focus, standing out vividly with it's leaves against the receding foggy background of bare branches.
Mount Siguniang National Park lies 220km west of Chengdu, in the Qionglai Mountains of western Sichuan in China.
Legend has it that the four snow-capped peaks were originally the four daughters of the mountain god.
The park is comprised of Mount Siguniang itself and the three most accessible valleys surrounding it. The nearest town is Rilong. The three valleys are called Changping Valley, Haizi Valley and Shuangqiao Valley.
I trekked in the Changpingou in autumn when the deciduous larch trees provided an amazing colour show. Truly a spectacular sight!
as a satellite straight lines itself under the milky way, it reminds me so much of drawing on a old Etch -A- Sketch. With precise turning of the left and right knobs, one could create a perfect diagonal line, much like this satellite in orbit. I'm not saying that satellites are controlled by some dude with his hands on the knobs of this red framed device, but if one day I look up and see satellites zig-zagging in rapid succession...well maybe...just saying.

What are you going to do? You're going to quiet the mind. And what will happen? When the mind is quiet everything will happen by itself. The truth will come out of you. You will not have to
think about it. You will be aware of reality and you will find unalloyed happiness, great joy, a great peace, a great love and you will have a great compassion. And you will be kind to everything to insects, to animals, to humans, to minerals, everything is alive and you will have reverence for all things.
...
Just sit by yourself as much as you can. And watch your mind, watch your mind. Do whatever you have to do to slow down your
mind and then you're going to be amazed. You will laugh at yourself. For when the mind becomes quiescent, reality will rush in. And you'll see it's so simple, it’s so simple. Why didn't I know this all the time? I used to believe by reading volume after volume I'll become enlightened. But it was so easy, I just had to quiet my mind.

In the pleasant evening light the lady is selling tasty, home prepared food stuff to people walking along the girivalam path, i.e. the path around the Arunachala hill. Her view seems to rest on the holy hill which is to the left.
For most travellers to Far-West Tibet (Ngari) in Purang county, the prime focus of their journey is the sacred peak of Mount Kailash (6714 m), Tibetan name is Gang Ti Se. This extraordinary mountain is regarded as the `heart of the world`, the àxis mundi`,the centre of Asia, by Buddhists, Hindus, Jains and followers of other spiritual traditions. Of all the special destinations for the traveller to reach, Mount Kailash is surely one of the most sublime and sacred. Its geographical position as the watershed of South Asia is unique and it is this which gives it a cosmic geomantic power. From its slopes flow four great rivers in the four cardinal directions - the Senge Tsangpo སེང་གཙང་པོ་ (Indus River) north, the Yarlung Tsangpo ཡར་ཀླུངས་གཙང་པོ་ (Brahmaputra) east, Karnali south into the Ganges གང་ག་, and the Langchen Tsangpo གཙང་པོ་ ( Sutlej River) west.
Mount Kailash itself is known in the Tibetan language as Gang Ti-se and informally as Gang Rinpoche ("Precious Snow Mountain"), to the Bon as Yungdrung Gutsek ("Nine stacked Svastikas").
This Say's phoebe has caught itself a nice fly. I appreciated the fact if flew back to the same perch after it flew down into some long grass to grab it.
Every time I look at this image, I think the beak is extra big, like an auk's, because of the position of the fly's wing.
Les cases d'Alcanar is a small fishing village south of Catalonia. It is a town attached to the municipality of Alcanar and was founded by Felipe V in 1740.
The town itself has very few attractions and its narrow and convoluted streets have no artistic or monumental interest. Perhaps the port, but little else.
His tourist interest is another. It is about gastronomy because it is full of restaurants where you eat well and with moderate prices you can taste some wonderful prawns, "espardeñas", rice and all kinds of seafood in the area.
After lunch we were walking around the harbor and its surroundings for a while and this is the best I could photograph.
The version I made in black and white has also been fine, but in the end I decided on the color because in my opinion it is more natural but perhaps less artistic.

In a whimsical clash of urban and rural worlds, a curious border collie finds itself standing guard over an unexpected bunch of city raccoons who have laid claim to the garden shed. Amidst the lush greenery of the garden, with trees swaying gently in the breeze and barrels and pots scattered about, the scene is one of delightful chaos. The border collie, with its keen intellect and playful spirit, eyes the raccoons with a mixture of curiosity and bemusement, unsure whether to bark in defense or join in the mischief. It's a comical tale of city meets garden, where even the most unexpected encounters can lead to laughter and lightheartedness.
