Issue#15 "Wounded"
I grimace clutching my wounds the water demon cut me bad with its spiked armour but I gouged out its beady eye and swam out if it's murky bottomless pit. I stumble through the night streets as the blood oozes through my suit, my vision blurs and I groan falling to the ground crawling towards the bustling market opposite trying desperately to fathom the words to cry out but I'm too weak. I notice a large heavyset man approach me, his large meaty arms scoop me up and I hear a slight chortle as he breathes. "H...Help...me..." I mutter as the man squeals seemingly with delight, then everything goes black.
I begin to regain consciousness and peel open my eyelids, it takes me a movement to realise I'm upside down and stripped from the waist up. I also seem to be swinging side to side slightly. I groan in pain feeling my wounds ache and the familiar rattling of a Jain coiled around my leg suspending me. I look around the room seeing tons of tools littered on the tables below me, they all look very menacing. I see a familiar heavy set figure waddle up to me snorting, he seems to be wearing a bloodied pigs head. I stare alarmingly at him and swing my clenched fists at him but I'm too far out his reach."Dr. Hog will make Mother complete, Mother needs muscular arms!" he squeals lifting up a cleaver from the table wiping the crusted blood off on his apron. I grimace trying to move but the pain seeps Into my skin like fire from my wounds, I close my eyes tight expecting the worst but instead I hear a grunt and a thud. I open my eyes slightly and see a hooded female figure stand over the incapacitated Dr. Hog.
I can't seen her very well because of her mask but I can tell she's wondering how to get me back down on the ground without breaking the chain and having me fall and snapping my neck. I notice Dr. Hog getting to his feet and I muster the words weekly "Behind...you" The woman quickly turns around seeing Dr. Hog lunge at her but she swiftly rolls to the side letting him sprawl out onto the floor squealing. He clambers to his feet swinging at her with a wild right hook but she lifts up her staff smacking his fist downwards and brings up the other end of her staff connecting it with the bridge of the mans nose breaking it. He cries out in pain as she sucker punches him to the floor knocking him out. "Who...are you?" I mumble softly watching the woman "I'm Spoiler. Now hurry up us heroes are leaving Gotham, Amanda Wallers orders." She replies. "Huh what? Wait...how did you find me?" I murmur as she loosens my chain letting me drop slowly to the ground, she grabs me helping me up to my feet "I've been tracking this sicko's activities for some time. He's trying to do some Frankenstein thing to recreate his Mum." She spits holding my arm over her shoulder, I frown "Why are...the heroes leaving Gotham? I say breathing heavily through the effort of speaking. "Amanda is saying this City is on the brink of war and we need to evacuate or she's going to release 'The Big Gun' before it escalates any further."

Seeing as my good friend, Justin, put up some great shots from the University of Chicago Theological Seminary from when he first introduced me to this incredible place, I felt I should look through some archives for a seminary shot. This image was taken one night after work, sneaking into this library that has been depleted of its contents. it was a little scary entering this dark room and having to find the light switches, but it worked out. Thanks again, Justin, and also Yvonne, for enlightening me to this great spot!
As my parents we're working out how to change the dictionary language on their phone, I got rather bored and did this i.picasion.com/pic56/397f4d26cd3284df0125553af6c5809a.gif
but really i just have issues.
Glad to be part of Underdogs vol.9, moreover I really enjoyed the editing! A print version is available via Peecho.
Stork margarine was originally a brand of Van den Berghs & Jurgens prior to their 1929 merger with Lever Brothers that created Unilever. The brand, along with other similar products, has since been spun off from Unilever and is now owned by an investment company.
Stork had for many years a 'cookery service' that publicised the use of its product especially as a cooking fat. This booklet is typical of the style of publication issued by them in post-WW2 years and although not dated it has the feel of late 1950s or early 1960s about it. It appears to have been aimed as a 'giveaway' from the Stork Demonstration Van that apparently toured county and agricultural shows and similar events and the cover certainly illustrates such a scene.
The design is a bit more 'artistic' than others in the series and I have to say that I'm in tow minds as to the artist or designer. An immediate thought is the style of Edward Bawden, a prolific artist in terms of advertising commissions and it has, to an extent, the 'look'. On the other hand some elements have a hint of William Roberts, the extraordinary artist whose style started from a strongly cubist beginning and some of the figures have such a look of his other recipe book work. I wonder ... but thanks to others I can confirm this is the work of Edward Bawden.
The covers, along with the booklet itself, were printed by Purnell & Sons, Paulton (Somerset) and London, who were famously connected with childrens books and annuals and, I think, postcards? Whatever, it is a rather fine cover with so much going on at the fair and the Stork Demonstration Van in the centre.
The MiG-29 was developed in tandem with Sukhoi’s Su-27 Flanker. In 1969, the Soviet General Staff issued a requirement for a Perspektinyy Frontovoy Istrebitel (PFI, or “Advanced Frontline Fighter”) with a list of demanding criteria: long-range, good short-field performance, excellent agility, Mach 2+ speed, and heavy armament. The Russian aerodynamics institute TsAGI worked in collaboration with the Sukhoi design bureau on the aircraft’s aerodynamics.
However, by 1971, further Soviet studies revealed the need for different types of fighters. The PFI program was supplemented with the Perspektinyy Lyogkiy Frontovoy Istrebitel (LPFI, or “Advanced Lightweight Tactical Fighter”) program. The LPFI would constitute two-thirds of the new Soviet fighter force with the PFI making up the remaining one-third. The PFI design went to Sukhoi and the LPFI design went to Mikoyan. Mikoyan produced Product 9, later designated MiG-29A, in 1974 and the first flight took place on 6 October 1977.
Known internally as Product 9.12A, the MiG-29A Fulcrum-A was the first production variant for the Soviet Union. Export variants to non-Warsaw Pact countries had downgraded avionics and no ECM or IFF and were known as Product 9.12B or the MiG-29B. The Yugoslav Air Force, or Jugoslovensko Ratno Vazduhoplovstvo (JRV), was the first European country outside the Soviet Union to operate the MiG-29. The country purchased 14 MiG-29Bs and 2 MiG-29UB trainers between 1987 and 1988, which went into service with the 127th Fighter Aviation Squadron, based at Batajnica Air Base, north of Belgrade, Serbia. During operation Allied Force, six MiG-29s were shot down and four others (including a two-seat trainer) were destroyed on the ground by NATO forces. Since the dissolution of Yugoslavia, the remaining MiG-29s were passed on to Serbia.
In this image, you can see one of the early MiG-29Bs of the 127th FAS on a low-level acceleration run. The model has functional landing gear and canopy. There is also the capacity for multiple weapons loads on the underwing pylons and centreline.

So, this is weird. If you read my previous post you'd know that among other things I'd be enhancing older comics of mine to match the quality of my current stuff. I redid issue zero and even with my more efficient, space-saving methods now, I still somehow ended up with 2 extra pages. So now I awkwardly have to upload them here. If you go in the Issue Zero set I have everything will be in order, though. Either way, just give this, and the rest of the issue a look, and carry one. And follow me on Taspastic, Line Webtoons, and coming soon, Instagram.

Studies have shown that a person's genes can cause an increased risk in breast and ovarian cancer. This infographic shows the chromosomal mutations and the risk they can pose.
According to the National Cancer Institute, studies have shown that inherited mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes account for 5-10 percent of all breast cancers and 15 percent of all ovarian cancers. While genetic testing is encouraged only for those who have a family history of breast or ovarian cancer, education and awareness are important to early detection and treatment.
How can a better understanding of the cause of these genetic mutations help further the cause of finding a cure for cancer?

The as-always humongous September issue of Vogue has arrived... I will need a few days alone. Thanks.
Found this gem on eBay this week. With a passion for collecting Zippos and all things Fallout, I felt obliged to buy it. :3
London Transport has always relied heavily on income from commercial advertising revenues - monies made by selling advertising space on vehicles, stations and structures. In the 1930s the Commercial Advertising Department were themselves prolific advertisers in relevant trade journals (here in Art & Industry) and issued much publicity themselves. As in keeping with the company's strong ethos of 'fitness for purpose' even humble press adverts have a real sense of style about them as seen here.
Advertising escalator panel spaces this advert, both graphic and text, plays cleverly on 'steps' - steps on the escalator and the advertiser's next steps. It is thoughtfully set out, typographically, and the graphic captures escalators, passengers looking and a "step'. It is by "Eckersley-Lombers", the pre-war partnership of designers and artists Tom Eckersley and Eric Lombers who also produced many posters and panel/car posters for LT as well.
The last line is very fine : The LT roundel symbol and "You can't get away from it"!
