"Daddy’s in the sawmill cutting railroad ties.
Mamma’s in the kitchen baking apple pies.
Grandpa and the children have their chores to do.
While Grandma tries to iron out the ironing board blues."

Ironing is probably my least favourite task but as I was ironing school uniforms this morning I saw my image for this week. This is the top 2 1/2 inches of the iron.

Fijnstrijkerij: old inscriptions show traces of the past. They tell us what was there twenty, fifty, a hundred years ago. They show something of the society of our parents and grandparents.
I had a fun time shooting Archie and Lindsay Noble, after the more traditional photo's we did something a little more fun.

Additional close-up/macro view of the Tex-Knit brand "miracle" ironing-board cover material, with high-percentage chrysotile-asbestos. The particular cotton-asbestos textile blend is advertised as "ASBESTON" and winner of a 1947 safety award on the product's labeling, as well as guaranteed by Good Housekeeping; made by U.S. Rubber Co. and Textile Mills of Chicago, Illinois.
Most of the fabric material that is visible in the image is chrysotile asbestos.
Day of the Dead diorama, with polymer clay skeleton housewife, ironing while watching her favorite soap. A tribute to my mom.

It’s easy to fall in love with Bali. The beaches are beautiful, the food is wonderful, the people are friendly, and the culture is unique and richly rewarding.
This little Indonesian island was doubly blessed: firstly, with abundantly productive fields, and secondly, with people who were cooperative, rather than overly competitive, and who therefore shared the products of those fields - allowing them to spend time on creating art and beautiful things.
One area of creative endeavour is textile production, much of it using traditional methods.
