Through the branches.

Unintentional double-exposure as I was drifting through the low-hanging branches (intentional) and remembering the quirks of the Holga 120N shutter (unintentional).

Can't complain; I like the result.

Passing by the Bay Creek ducks.

Bay Creek Paddling Center was closed by time I paddled past. The ducks were enjoying the quiet. When I drifted in closer they stood up but did not appear particularly alarmed.

Back to BayCreek Paddling Center

Upper 80sF, breezy, humid. I had a good paddle but, this being my first time out in a very long time, it took a while before my legs and ankles were interested in cooperating with me. I gladly accepted some help in getting the canoe back to the car and up on top.

The last bend before heading home

Just a bit after the next bend I will leave the wooded hills behind and head out into the flats. Last frame on the roll. It was a beautiful day.

There are huge, fat cables above this area of Philbrick/Linear Park. They'd be too much to remove so I had to be satisfied with a partial view from the bridge.

I enjoyed seeing this Mallard wait for something good to come down Irondequoit Creek in Philbrick/Linear Park today.

If you were t turn about and walk a few steps to the other side of the bridge you would see, aside from a lot of wires, very, very little color.

It let loose a few minutes after this was taken...lots of wind and rain.

we're here in water, water, water. A warm weekend; snow melting; creek rising.

Heading back to the main channel and ready to turn toward home.

Sometimes I regard these little drops in Philbrick Park as substitute waterfalls. Other times I just think of them as what they are -- falling water with character.

I liked the ribbed effect below this drop. Wonder what makes that? Small, equal-sized below-the-surface rocks I guess.

Irondequoit Creek moves peacefully through Philbrick/Linear Park on a beautiful low 70's day.

Irondequoit Bay and Bridge

It has been many years since I last photographed this bridge from the south.

Monday evening, June 16, 2025. I celebrated my 75th birthday by launching the canoe at LaSalle's Landing across the road from BayCreek Paddling Center. I paddled out on Irondequoit Bay for a bit then explored nooks and crannies on the creek. A little over an hour, so a couple of miles. Low 70sF. I love padding this time of day day as the sun drops behind the hills.

You know what? I'm getting cold again just reviewing these! A junior waterfall.

Underexposed plus the mysteries of the last shot on the roll.

The park where we had the picnic is in a bend in the creek. The water level is typically low this time of year.

The Penfield (New York) High School class of 1968 was a crazy crew back then. Still is. It was quite a time to come of age. Makes me wonder what the class of 2020 will say, fifty-two years from now.

There are quite a few of us who have stayed in or returned to the Rochester area. Those of us who were not health- or mobility-challenged gather a couple weeks ago for a fifty-two year reunion and joint seventieth birthday party. We even had a cake.

All of us have needed to stay really careful with Covid-19, so we felt fairly safe in letting down the guard a bit around each other.

The sun was really to low in the sky for me to do well with the Ondu 135 pinhole and expired color film I was planning to cross process, but I did manage a few shots I liked.

I guess I am not meant to be a person who adds leaves to pictures. (Not that there's anything wrong with doing that) These are all natural leaves. I added a few, but the rock they were on looked measurably worse when I got though so I removed them.

In the light of the late afternoon sun.

It's interesting here how the bench, which I sure was put where it is on the little island by kids, lines up perfectly with the 2 fallen trees in back of it.

A little very week sun has crept in and spent a little time on a couple of the rocks in cold, cold Irondequoit Creek in Linnear (Philbrick) Park near Rochester, NY.

Here is a silly log trying to swim upstream. Note the partially submerged dog who can't keep from laughing at that idea..

took my camera for walk along the creek this morning.

Irondequoit Creek.....Channing Philbrick Park.

From winter to spring the water washes everything downstream that isn't necessary.

A user-built dam at the other end of an island in Linear Park has pretty much cut off the water on the left side of the island, which must have made it relatively simple to move the bench over there.

The one day big thaw with temps in the low 60's

It looks as if this long-ago portion of a bridge could be pushed downstream at any moment.

I tried like crazy to get the guy in the red coat isolated as he moved around, but it was not possible.

I was the only photographer in the park on yesterday's wonderful 60 degree day. The others were dog walkers and fishermen. Today it's frigid again.

Over the years, this tree beside Irondequoit Creek is listing further and further from straight up. Meanwhile its exposed roots server as a "stopper" for the fallen leaves of autumn.

Lots and lots of fisher folk everywhere at Irondequot Creek at Linear/ Philbrick Park today. There's one of them in blaze orange. I know, I know....it's got power lines and something that looks like a muffler up top. But when I cropped all that out I lost some fall color and besides it just didn't look right....so there you are.
