Recently I read in a local newspaper that the Waxie Dargle on Granby Row has been sold. The pub has been closed for a number of years and as can been seen from my photographs it does appear somewhat neglected. The pub was listed on Daft.ie at a price of €150,000 which is a very low price. Someone may have got a bargain.
I live in the area and currently it is really run-down at the moment but things are likely to greatly improve when the Luas Tram service becomes operational late next year. There will be two local stops.
The Student Housing Company (TSHC), owned by the global asset management firm Oaktree Capital Management, is currently building a large complex consisting of between 447 student bed spaces close to the Waxie Dargle. The Dorset Street student complex is less than 10 minutes’ walk from the planned new DIT Grangegorman campus which will have 20,000 by September 2017.

This was a night out with my good friends and some new flickr contacts from a couple weeks back; I got the opportunity to push some 1600 Neopan and was pretty pleased with the results through the Bessa...enjoy
his pub was owned by a member of my extended family but I have never been in it [my mother, a Regan, claims that here father brought me there when I was young but I have no recollection of visiting].
It could be described as a small [tiny] traditional pub located in a beautiful spot beside St Peter’s Bridge near the town of Trim. MY mother claims that it was popular with professionals who wished to avoid visiting pubs in the actual town.
Currently it claims to be Ireland’s second oldest pub (next to Sean’s Bar in Athlone) but my mother was unaware of such a claim. It now has a beer garden with a view of the ruins of St John’s Priory which is close by.
A common name for a pub, Dublin’s "Bridge Tavern" is on the corner of Summerhill Parade and Clarence Street.
It is in the shadow of Croke Park stadium, the principal stadium and headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA).
Since 1891 Croke Park has hosted Gaelic sports (such as hurling and Gaelic football), and has grown to become a major influence in the cultural life of the local communities.
As of this photo in 2018 Dublin county was preparing for its 4th All-Ireland Senior Football Champions title in a row. The trophy at the end of this knockout competition contested by GAA county teams commemorates Sam Maguire, a legendary footballer and leading figure in the London GAA and wider Irish emigrant community in England.
The photo was taken during one of those rare things in Ireland – a heat wave !
The summer of 2018 was so hot the government ordered water rationing

This excellent Irish restaurant and pub is within walking distance of the B&B where we are staying in Philly. It was well worth the walk.
The annual Halloween display at Fitzpatrick's Bar and Restaurant (visited by US President Joe Biden on one of his trips to Co Louth) are always a big attraction.
There are also live action shows in the run-up to Halloween with funds going to a local charity.
The day after the first night with friends in Mechelen. Irish pub O'Fiachs was still quiet, some soft celtic tunes playing in the background and I was just looking around to admire all the little gadgets and details in this small but marvelous place, while waiting for my Irish breakfast, enjoying a cup of coffee.

A guy taking one last drag on his cigarette outside The Burren, an Irish pub in Davis Square, Somerville.
Realized that it had been awhile since I posted a location sketch.

The Tipperary is London’s most historic Irish pub. Of course with any Irish pub to make it authentic you need Guinness – and The Tipperary was remarkably the first pub to serve Guinness outside of Ireland anywhere in the world!
Jacob’s Bar was established as a public house in the village by members of the Jacob family in 1901 and has since established itself as a local landmark.
