During its heyday, Ipoh has many single-screen large auditorium cinemas, in the city centre, all in close vicinity. Given the popularity of multiplexes, these cinema have become remnants of the past. This particular art deco style cinema, Ruby, now housed a furniture shop while it continues to fall into disrepair.
The Ipoh railway station designed by Arthur Benison Hubback, it was first constructed and opened in 1935, making it the second concrete station to be constructed in the town. The building also houses the hotel called the Majestic Hotel. Affectionately known as the Taj Mahal of Ipoh by its locals, it closely resembles its Kuala Lumpur sister...

The cenotaph or war memorial was the focal point for commemoration of the fallen after WWI and can be found in every city, town and village in the British Empire.
The marble plaque in the photograph is not original. The original brass plaques disappeared for decades and were only very recently recovered and restored to the cenotaph. The original plaques bear the legend, "Sacred to the Memory of the Men from the State of Perak who fell in the Great War 1914-1918" and bear the names of 91 Britons - no doubt administrators, police men, planters and miners who left the comfort of colonial Malaya to fall in the distant fields of France and Belgium.
The memorial also pays tribute to those who died in the two world wars, the Malayan Emergency (1948-1960), the Confrontation (1962-1965) and the Insurgency (1972-1990).
On the Second Day of Syawal, My family and I went to Ipoh to visit some of our relatives. Ahmad Imran celebrates Eid at his "kampung" at Ipoh. After visiting his grandpa's house, we went to my father's cousin's house. haha. what a tiring day!
IPOH, Malaysia (June 17, 2012) - Musician 3rd Class Gabriel Brown, right, vocalist assigned to the U.S. 7th Fleet Band’s Orient Express, and a performer from the Royal Malaysian Navy’s Blue Wave Band, perform Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” for hundreds of guests at Greentown Mall during a joint concert between the U.S. and Royal Malaysian Navies. The event is part of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Malaysia 2012. CARAT is a series of bilateral military exercises between the U.S. Navy and the armed forces of Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
