On the Second Day of Syawal, My family and I went to Ipoh to visit some of our relatives. Ahmad Imran celebrates Eid at his "kampung" at Ipoh. After visiting his grandpa's house, we went to my father's cousin's house. haha. what a tiring day!
IPOH, Malaysia (June 17, 2012) - Musician 3rd Class Gabriel Brown, right, vocalist assigned to the U.S. 7th Fleet Band’s Orient Express, and a performer from the Royal Malaysian Navy’s Blue Wave Band, perform Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” for hundreds of guests at Greentown Mall during a joint concert between the U.S. and Royal Malaysian Navies. The event is part of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Malaysia 2012. CARAT is a series of bilateral military exercises between the U.S. Navy and the armed forces of Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. The paintings were painted on old, heritage buildings, an effort i find commendable in preserving these rare gems. The paintings, dated this year, highlight the many cultures of Malaysia: lion dance, kuda kepang dance, Indian dance, a Kadazan; with a pinch of cheekiness with popular childhood games like hide-and-seek and mother hen, and a beautiful waterfall scenery, amongst others.
The wonderful wall art that started in Penang has come to Ipoh. Initiated by art teacher, Eric Lai, who runs an art school Artgene Studio in Bercham, he had just completed his seventh and last mural at the lane in between Jalan Masjid and Jalan Sultan Iskandar (Hugh Low Street).
