My ipod battery kept dying after about 2 hours of play, so I bought a replacement high-capacity battery for 20 bucks from ebay.
With a bit of instruction from this guide, I got the battery installed, only to realise it was a dud. D'oh! A replacement is on the way ...
Obviously there's a huge difference between the before and after. The camera you see in the lower corner is actually the reflection of my camera in the mirror-like back of my iPod

Open up the iPod using tools which won't scratch the casing. Maplin sell a great battery and tool kit for a mere £15. Once open, carefully lay the two halfs side by side, making sure you don't damage the very delicate ribbon cable between the two halfs. Next remove the hard disk. In my case, I removed my CF card adapter.
