ENG: What you can find when visiting the Apple Store in Berlin's City West on Kurfürstendamm. A wonderful staircase! At the request of a Flickr user pix-4-2-day, comes now a another variant in black & white.
GER: Was man nicht so alles findet beim Besuch des Apple Store in der Berliner City West am Kurfürstendamm. Ein wunderbares Treppenhaus! Auf Wunsch eines Flickr Mitglieds (pix-4-2-day) kommt nun noch einmal eine Variante in Schwarz & Weiß.
ENG: You can see the Paul Löbe House from the eastern rear part, this is a functional building of the German Bundestag in Berlin's government district. This is located on the site of the former Alsen quarter on the southern edge of the Spreebogenpark. It is named after the President of the Reichstag and former President of the first German Bundestag, Paul Löbe (SPD). The main entrance is on the west passing Konrad-Adenauer-Street.
GER: Zu sehen ist das Paul-Löbe-Haus vom östlichen hinteren Teil, dieses ist ein Funktionsgebäude des Deutschen Bundestags im Berliner Regierungsviertel. Das sich auf dem Gelände des ehemaligen Alsenviertels am Südrand des Spreebogenparks befindet. Es ist nach dem Reichstagspräsidenten und Alterspräsidenten des ersten Deutschen Bundestags, Paul Löbe (SPD), benannt. Der Haupteingang liegt an der westlich vorbeiführenden Konrad-Adenauer-Straße.
ENG: If we turn around ourselves for a long time and then suddenly stop, we get a felt giddy (in German: Drehwurm). The ground seems to sway while everything around us continues to rotate.
I photographed this staircase before on March 9, 2019 and now here comes a new interpretation, photographed with my current smartphone.
I discovered this wonderful gem once again by chance while strolling around and entering a department store on the Frankfurter Allee in Berlin.

GER: Wenn wir uns längere Zeit um uns selbst drehen und dann plötzlich stehenbleiben bekommen wir einen Drehwurm. Der Boden scheint zu schwanken, während sich alles um uns herum weiterdreht.
Am 9. März 2019 habe ich diese Treppe schon einmal fotografiert und hier kommt nun eine neue Interpretation, fotografiert mit meinem aktuellen Smartphone.
Dieses wunderbare kleinod hab ich mal wieder durch Zufall beim flanieren und betreten eines Kaufhauses auf der Frankfurter Allee in Berlin entdeckt.
ENG: You can see the glass roof of the Berlin "Galeria Kaufhof Karstadt" shopping center building on the upper floor in a wide angle shot. This well-known five-storey building is located directly on Alexanderplatz and invites Berliners and tourists to shop again and again.

GER: Zu sehen ist das Glasdach des Berliner „Galeria Kaufhof Karstadt“ Gebäudes im Obergeschoss in einer Weitwinkel Aufnahme. Dieses bekannte fünfgeschossige Bauwerk steht direkt auf dem Alexanderplatz und lädt Berliner und Touristen immer wieder zum shoppen ein.
ENG: The sea. The forest. And you. Moin, Moin in the Baltic seaside resort Kellenhusen. And yes, we totally enjoyed it there. A not so crowded beach and in addition a nice looking pier. The new pier was inaugurated in June 2007. It offers with three "theme islands" possibilities to relax and swim. Smaller ships can dock at the pier head, which improves the tourism of the place by better connections with the big neighbors like Lübeck or Travemünde and Fehmarn. In addition, you can get married on the pier and since 2019 it has been illuminated in the evening with a special lighting concept.

GER: Das Meer. Der Wald. Und Du. Moin, Moin im Ostseebad Kellenhusen. Und ja, wir haben es dort total genossen. Ein nicht so überfüllter Strand und dazu noch eine schön anzusehende Seebrücke. Die neue Seebrücke wurde im Juni 2007 eingeweiht. Diese bietet mit drei „Themeninseln“ Möglichkeiten zum Entspannen und Baden. Am Seebrückenkopf können kleinere Schiffe anlegen, was den Tourismus des Ortes durch bessere Verbindungen mit den großen Nachbarn wie Lübeck oder Travemünde und Fehmarn verbessert. Zudem kann man auf der Seebrücke heiraten und seit 2019 wird sie abends mit einem besonderen Lichtkonzept illuminiert.
ENG: This beautiful white staircase is hidden in a commercial building in a shopping arcade in the Leipzig district of Mitte and not far from the suburban train station Mitte. Actually, I just wanted to quickly buy a new shirt, because it was just too hot on this day and so I found in the H&M store this gem. ☻

GER: Dieses wunderschöne weiße Treppenhaus versteckt sich in einem Geschäftshaus in einer Einkaufspassage im Leipziger Stadtteil Mitte und unweit der S-Bahn Station Mitte. Eigentlich wollte ich nur auf die Schnelle ein neues Shirt kaufen, weil es einfach zu warm war an diesen Tag und so fand ich im H&M Store dieses Schmuckstück. ☻
ENG: You can see a grey heron, also called fish heron! I discovered this one at the Teltowkanal lock in Kleinmachnow. This place is located in the district Potsdam-Mittelmark in the federal state Brandenburg. Sometimes a walk brings new impressions and there was a lot to discover there. Whether it is the large lock building, the old historic streetcar from about 1930 directly on the Teltow Canal or the charming landscape.

GER: Zu sehen ist hier ein Graureiher, auch Fischreiher genannt! Diesen habe ich an der Teltowkanal Schleuse in Kleinmachnow entdeckt. Dieser Ort liegt im Landkreis Potsdam-Mittelmark im Bundesland Brandenburg. Manchmal bringt ein Spaziergang neue Eindrücke mit sich und es gab dort einiges zu entdecken. Ob es das große Schleusen Gebäude ist, die alte historische Straßenbahn von etwa 1930 direkt am Teltow-Kanal oder die bezaubernde Landschaft.

ENG: You can see the oversized lampshade in the FUTURIUM on the way to the upper floor.
The FUTURIUM building was opened on 5 September 2019 and is a kind of future museum and thus aims to answer open questions about the future. Admission is free and anyone can visit it not far from Berlin's main railway station. I personally can only recommend it. If only because the roof terrace (skywalk) offers a beautiful panoramic view over Berlin's city centre.

GER: Zu sehen ist der überdimensionierte Lampenschirm im FUTURIUM auf dem Weg zum Obergeschoss.
Der FUTURIUM Bau wurde am 5. September 2019 eröffnet und ist eine Art Zukunfts-Museum und soll so offene Fragen der Zukunft beantworten. Der Eintritt ist Frei und darf von jedem unweit des Berliner Hauptbahnhofs besucht werden. Ich persönlich kann es nur empfehlen. Alleine schon deswegen, da die Dachterrasse (Skywalk) einen schönen Panorama Blick über Berlins Mitte bietet.

The "Museuminsel" subway station is one of three of the newest subway stations in Berlin's Mitte district of the same name. It is part of the extension of the U5 underground line from Hönow deep in the east of the city beyond Alexanderplatz to Brandenburg Gate and on to the terminus at Hauptbahnhof. Construction had its groundbreaking ceremony in 2010 and it was ceremonially opened in mid-2021. The mega highlight here is the integrated starry sky. The other two new stations are also already in operation and bear the names "Rotes Rathaus" and "Unter den Linden".

GER: In meinem Smartphone Speicher liegt jetzt schon etwas länger eine kleine Bilder Serie mit 7 Fotos vom neusten U-Bahnhof Berlins. Die Rede ist hier vom U-Bahnhof Museumsinsel.
Der U-Bahnhof „Museumsinsel“ ist einer von drei der neusten U-Bahnhöfe im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte des gleichnamigen Bezirks. Er ist Teil der Verlängerung der U-Bahn-Linie U5 von Hönow tief im Osten der Stadt über den Alexanderplatz hinaus zum Brandenburger Tor bis zur Endstation Hauptbahnhof. Der Bau hatte seinen ersten Spatenstich 2010 und er wurde Mitte 2021 feierlich eröffnet. Das mega Highlight ist hier der integrierte Sternenhimmel. Die anderen zwei neuen Bahnhöfe sind ebenfalls schon in Betrieb und tragen die Namen „Rotes Rathaus“ sowie „Unter den Linden“.

The Volkspark am Weinberg (also Weinbergspark) is the only Volkspark in Berlin's Mitte district (in the district of the same name) and covers an area of around 4.3 hectares. It is bordered by Weinbergsweg in the southeast, Brunnenstraße in the southwest, Veteranenstraße in the northwest and Fehrbelliner Straße in the northeast. The name of the park goes back to the former vineyards that were planted there in the past. It has been a garden monument since the late 1970s.

GER: Zu sehen ist der Volkspark Teich im Weinberg Park.
Der Volkspark am Weinberg (auch Weinbergspark) ist der einzige Volkspark im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte (im gleichnamigen Bezirk) und hat eine Fläche von rund 4,3 Hektar. Er wird begrenzt durch den Weinbergsweg im Südosten, die Brunnenstraße im Südwesten, die Veteranenstraße im Nordwesten und die Fehrbelliner Straße im Nordosten. Der Name des Parks geht zurück auf die ehemaligen Weinberge, die dort früher angelegt waren. Er ist seit den späten 1970er Jahren ein Gartendenkmal.

GER: Gerade in diesen Zeiten ist Hoffnung alles was wir haben. Viele Menschen haben sorgenvolle Gedanken beim Thema Zukunft, Kummer um ihren Job, Angst um ihre Gesundheit und der ihrer Liebsten, Existenzängste und so weiter.

ENG: Recently I had time again for a stroll in the City West. So I was once again tempted to go to the KaDeWe (department store of the West). Honestly, my last visit is certainly 20 years ago. ☻ Price-wise, nothing has changed, as can be seen from the bottles of wine from the last post. Therefore, there is today something sweet from chocolate for the soul of me for you on the eye. Here, a bottle of wine alone has already cost from 120 euros. Purely architecturally, something has changed, as can be seen in the new escalator system. But more about that later.

GER: Letztens hatte ich mal wieder Zeit für einen Stadtbummel in der City West. So kam ich mal wieder in die Versuchung ins KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens) zu gehen. Ganz ehrlich, mein letzter Besuch ist bestimmt schon 20 Jahre her. ☻ Preislich hat sich nichts verändert, wie an den Flaschen Wein zu erkennen ist vom letzten Post. Deshalb gibt es heute etwas süßes aus Schokolade für die Seele von mir für euch aufs Auge. Hier hat eine Weinflasche allein schon ab 120 Euro gekostet. Rein architektonisch hat sich schon was verändert, wie am neuen Rolltreppen System zu sehen ist. Dazu aber später mehr.
ENG: After several years I had to visit the Berlin Cathedral again. One feels like a tourist in one's own city when one visits its sights. Looking at the many little things today makes it appear in a completely different light and the dome of the cathedral was one of them.
GER: Nach etlichen Jahren stand mal wieder ein Besuch des Berliner Doms an. Man fühlt sich ja wie ein Tourist in der eigenen Stadt, wenn man so seine Sehenswürdigkeiten Besucht. Das heutige betrachten der vielen kleinigkeiten lässt es in einem ganz anderen Licht erscheinen und die Kuppel des Doms war eine davon.
ENG: After several years we had to visit the Berlin Cathedral again. I couldn't even remember that the ascent took so long. But the ascent was worth it again and I felt a bit like a tourist in my own city.
GER: Nach etlichen Jahren stand mal wieder ein Besuch des Berliner Doms an. Ich konnte mich schon garnicht mehr dran erinnern, dass der Aufstieg so lange dauerte. Aber der Aufstieg hatte sich mal wieder gelohnt und ich hatte mich auch ein wenig wie ein Tourist in der eigenen Stadt gefühlt.
ENG: You can see the Lübeck City Hall and its open hall under the Long House with the neo-Gothic arcade.
This beautiful town hall from about 1240 of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck has been responsible for the fate of the city for almost 800 years. It is one of the most famous brick Gothic buildings and it is one of the largest medieval town halls in Germany. Unfortunately, because of the Corona Ordinances, no building tours were allowed during my visit. So I had to be content with the entrance area as well as the exterior view.

GER: Zu sehen ist das Lübecker Rathaus und seine offene Halle unter dem Langen Haus mit der neugotischen Arkade.
Dieses wunderschöne Rathaus von etwa 1240 der Hansestadt Lübeck ist seit fast 800 Jahre für die Geschicke der Stadt zuständig. Es zählt zu den bekanntesten Bauwerken der Backsteingotik und es ist eines der größten mittelalterlichen Rathäuser in Deutschland. Wegen der Corona Verordnungen durften bei meinen Besuch leider keine Gebäude Führungen stattfinden. So mußte ich mich mit dem Eingangsbereich sowie der Aussenansicht begnügen.
ENG: The underground station "Rotes Rathaus" is one of the two newest open underground stations in the Berlin district Mitte of the same name. It is part of the extension of the U5 underground line from Hönow deep in the east of the city beyond Alexanderplatz to Brandenburg Gate and on to the terminus at Hauptbahnhof. The construction had its ground-breaking ceremony in 2010 and it has now been ceremoniously opened on 4 December 2020 at 12 noon. The second new station also opened on 4 December and is called "Unter den Linden". The third and last new station will then be called "Museumsinsel" and is scheduled to open in mid-2021.

GER: Der U-Bahnhof „Rotes Rathaus“ ist einer von zwei der neusten offenen U-Bahnhöfe im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte des gleichnamigen Bezirks. Er ist Teil der Verlängerung der U-Bahn-Linie U5 von Hönow tief im Osten der Stadt über den Alexanderplatz hinaus zum Brandenburger Tor bis zur Endstation Hauptbahnhof. Der Bau hatte seinen ersten Spatenstich 2010 und er wurde nun am 4. Dezember 2020 um 12 Uhr feierlich eröffnet. Der zweite neue Bahnhof eröffnete ebenfalls am 04.12. und trägt den Namen „Unter den Linden“. Der dritte und letzte neue Bahnhof wird dann den Namen „Museumsinsel“ haben und soll Mitte 2021 erst eröffnen.
ENG: A very special place in the middle of the Berlin district of Charlottenburg. Art or madness? Craziness or elegance? Never mind! It just looks cool.
