tl;dr version: Splitting live mix + cue mix can be tricky; adding AirTunes means latency, mixing over live system without a monitor can be challenging. Still, fun as hell for a $20 app + $75 controller hardware. (AirFoil for Mac, if you want to route audio to an AirPort express as I did here, is $25.)
I'm a traditional "two turntables and a microphone" sort of guy, but I've always wanted to try this set-up. Here we have an iPad, an app and a hardware controller in action. iDJ Live is a MIDI controller, roughly resembling something you'd expect to use with Guitar Hero (or rather, DJ Hero) - except that it really works, and for $75, it's a relative steal. (See better photo of the controller itself.)
The iDJ Live controller simply hooks up to the djay app running on the iPad (there's also an iPhone version), and it does its job well. Where things get funky is that there's only one audio output, so to cue and mix like a real DJ, you have to split the stereo output to two mono channels - one for the live mix, and the other for the cue so the DJ can set up the next song "offline" before bringing it live. In this case, the mono output was noticed by nobody, and it's a reasonable compromise.
Another wrinkle to this set-up: The venue's amplifier was on the other side of the space, and they had an Airport Express. To get audio over to their system, I'd have to run 50 feet of cable or use the iPad's built-in AirTunes support, but the latter would mean a horrible 5-second delay between the live mix and the audio being heard - which obviously rules out real DJing.
My ideal imaginary wireless DJ situation would have the live mix going via AirTunes to the speakers, and cue output on the iPad headphone jack. However, it seems iOS only lets you route audio to one output at a time - and even if so, I imagine djay might have a tough time routing two different audio streams to different outputs. Maybe they'll be able to have cue-type audio going through the accessory port in a future version, with headphones for the live mix (or vice-versa.)
Overall, djay is a damn impressive app by itself, without the controller or anything else. Using just the iPhone version, you can pull off a pretty decent mix just about anywhere. The app also has a record feature that captures the live mix, and appears to write things in a rather wacky AIFF-C (compressed) WAV-like format which you can transfer via iTunes.

After using it for some weeks now, I get used to it, and now it’s difficult to go back, its an interesting new experience, yesterday I used my girlfriend iPad Air and felt like an ipad míni to me, did not like the keyboard, the iPad Pro keyboard is much better.
So, is big, is fast,it’s heavy, software needs a lot of updates for the new screen, even Apple apps, but now can’t live without.
“It could be the biggest baddest iPad, but my MacBook 12 it´s smaller, and runs OSX, even if the iPad Apps turn out to be great, I do not see me using it for professional work, more for a playing in great style, interesting sound reproduction from the new speakers.
For the road I still prefer a 12 inch macbook and the power of OSX, something that iOS can not compete, and have a more complete real web experience on a similar size package, and could run apps that I use at home, a better option for low computer needs.
And if I am serious about heavy processor intensive work on the road, I use a MacBook Pro 15.
iPad Pro is great for staying at home, the iPad Air 2 for great iOS power in the move, and iPad Mini 4 the ideal for always have with me, and the one I will buy next, but not so soon.
The finger print sensor it noticeably slower then my iPhone 6s Plus, I feel a little disappointed with that.”

I love my iPad. But I didn't plan to buy one at first. It's a pretty expensive gadget.
What can I say? It's Apple! It's hard to resist.
We had to take a school district writing assessment this week. While most kids in the school did theirs the traditional way with pencil and paper, we did ours on-line. I set up a Google Document for each person. I borrowed iPads from other classrooms, so we would have enough for everyone. We had a few problems, getting all the documents to load, but once we got going, it worked out well. Between iPads and laptops, we did a lot of writing.
The iPad Pro Smart Cover and Silicone Case arrived.
But iPad Pro not, one more 10 days to arrive.
Will post the photos when it comes.
Did not order the Apple Pencil, at least for now.

After popular request, here it is!
Right, this may be a long description :3
I decided that I would cater for lots and lots of people with a possibility of 64 people joining in!
What to do:
-If you want to contribute, find an empty space on the grid and tag yourself to that area
-Then, you have until Tuesday November 6th to draw what is in your area (earlier than 6th Nov would be even better)
-For the first week, it's one space each, so that everyone has a fair chance
-After the week, it's a free-for-all to get what space you want!
Please, don't take more spaces than you can complete
Other Notes
-Spaces that aren't handed in by November 6th will just be filled in with the original picture
-Only do what you can!
-Try to get your friends involved, tag them etc.
-You can use whatever you like, water colour, wax crayons, felt tips, photoshop, paint....
-If you have a question, just ask in the comments
-Don't post pointless comments please, they will be deleted.
-Have Fun!!
The Huge Colaboration Begins Now!
