Ionic shafts were taller . This makes the columns look slender. They also had flutes, which are lines carved into them from top to bottom. The shafts also had a special characteristic: entasis, which is a little bulge in the columns make the columns look straight, even at a distance [because since you would see the building from eye level, the shafts would appear to get narrower as they rise, so this bulge makes up for that - so it looks straight to your eye but it really isn't !] . The frieze is plain. The bases were large and looked like a set of stacked rings. Ionic capitals consist of a scrolls above the shaft. The Ionic style is a little more decorative.

Built in 1820, this Greek Revival and Federal-style house was built for Joseph Ferris, whom came to the area from Connecticut with his brothers Eliphalet Ferris and Andrew Ferris in 1799. The red brick house has been altered with the addition of a one-story wing at the base to convert it into a commercial building, but maintains its original six-over-six window patterns, front portico with ionic columns and roof with entablature, cornice, and front door with decorative surround and fanlight. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, and now sits along a busy commercial strip in the Cincinnati suburb of Fairfax.

This flower hair clip is layered with iridescent blue peacock feathers that contrast the dark purple of this feather beautifully. It is set on a veil.

One of the ionic capitals in the Morning Room of Arlington Court. The capital is the top of the pillar, the ionic is the name of the order in architecture.

Yeah. I realize that these are ionic columns, and thus probably not plantation style.

Did plantation houses use ionic columns at all? Was it stacked columns? Is that a real term?

Why can't I take a straight picture?

"The court has a tessellated glass roof designed by Buro Happold and executed by Waagner-Biro, covering the entire court and surrounds the original circular British Museum Reading Room in the centre, now a museum. It is the largest covered square in Europe. The glass and steel roof is made up of 4,878 unique steel members connected at 1,566 unique nodes and 1,656 pairs of glass windowpanes making up 6,100m2 of glazing; each of a unique shape because of the undulating nature of the roof." I've been using Alkalizer Drops for about a year now, and I've lost twenty pounds! I haven't changed my eating or exercise habits; just alkalizing my body has resulted in weight loss. Love this product!
