This is a color photograph of the Erechtheum, the ionic temple built in 421–405 BC on the Acropolis of Athens, Greece. Erechtheum is famous for its six Caryatids (supporting the porch) and for its exquisite architectural details. The architect was Mnēsiclēs. The name is probably derived from the Greek hero Erichthonius or the legendary king Erechtheus.
In the early 19th century, Thomas Bruce, 7th earl of Elgin looted or plundered one Caryatid and several sections from the Acropolis monuments and transported them to the UK.

This is a shot of the internal, ionic order colonnade (viewed from the North) of the ‘Stoa’ (covered walkway or arcade or freestanding colonnade) built by and named after Attalus II (aka Attalos II, King of Pergamon) in the ancient ‘Agora’ of Athens, Greece. The ancient iconic 2-storey building was originally built in 159–148 BC and measured 394 × 66 ft (120 × 20 m approximately) and was made of Pentelic marble and limestone.
The current Stoa was reconstructed in 1952–56 by the American School of Classical Studies at Athens and measures 377 × 66 ft (115 × 20 m approx.). The Doric order was used for the 45 pillars of the exterior colonnade on the ground floor with Ionic order for the interior colonnade. The current Stoa houses the Museum of the Ancient Agora.

Circular Ionic garden temple, mid 18th Centuty, possibly designed by James Paine, for George Fox-Lane, 2nd Lord Bingley. Part of a formal early C18 garden laid out to a plan c1725-8 by John Wood for Robert Benson, 1st Lord Bingley. The Black Fen Pleasure Ground is a mile distant from Bramham Park. It is divided by alleys and vistas radiating from round points.

The Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek (Glypto-, from the Greek root glyphein, to carve and theke, a storing-place) is an art museum in Copenhagen, Denmark. The collection is built around the personal collection of Carl Jacobsen (1842–1914), the son of the founder of the Carlsberg Breweries.
On 8 March 1888 Carl Jacobsen donated his collection to the Danish State and the City of Copenhagen on condition that they provided a suitable building for its exhibition.
It was Carl Jacobsen who chose the name for the museum, with inspiration from Ludwig I's Glyptothek in Munich, as well as Wilhelm Dahlerup as the architect for the assignment.
The new museum opened first on 1 May 1897. At first it only included Jacobsen's modern collection with French and Danish works from the 18th century.
In January 1899 Carl Jacobsen donated his collection of Antique art to the museum which made an expansion necessary.
It was designed by Hack Kampmann while Dahlerup designed a winter garden which connected the new wing to the old building. It was inaugurated in 1906.
In 1996 the museum was once again extended, this time with an infill constructed in one of its courtyards to the design of Henning Larsen.
In 2006, the building underwent a major renovation programme under the direction of Danish architects Dissing + Weitling.[6] and Bonde Ljungar Arkitekter MAA.
Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek ist ein Museum in Kopenhagen. Es zeigt sowohl antike Skulpturen des Mittelmeerraums aus Ägypten, Rom und Griechenland beherbergt als auch moderne Skulpturen von Auguste Rodin und Edgar Degas. Dänische und französische Gemälde aus dem 19. und 20. Jahrhundert des Impressionismus und Post-Impressionismus ergänzen die Sammlung.
Die Bestände gehen zurück auf die Kunstsammlung des dänischen Industriellen Jacob Christian Jacobsen, dessen Sohn Carl Jacobsen die Sammlung 1888 der Öffentlichkeit stiftete.
Der Name leitet sich ab vom Namen der Brauerei Carlsberg mit den Zusätzen Neu und Glyptothek, also Skulpturensammlung.
Jacobsen wählte diesen Namen aus Begeisterung für die Glyptothek in München.
Für die Sammlung wurde nach dem Entwurf der Architekten Vilhelm Dahlerup und Hack Kampmann das Gebäude am Dantes Plads in Kopenhagen errichtet.
Auch heute noch finanziert sich das Museum über einen Obolus, der auf jede Flasche Bier der Brauerei Carlsberg aufgeschlagen wird. Es wird darüber hinaus von der Carlsberg-Stiftung unterstützt.
Zum hundertjährigen Jubiläum der Antikensammlung im Jahr 2006 wurde das Gebäude umfangreich renoviert.

Actually, this is just a facsimile on a concrete pedestal in a parking lot, but as a Greek girl trying to remain in touch with her heritage, I thought it made for a good photo-op :-)
A beautiful day and the artistic talents of make-up artist and photographer Amanda Richards made this a lovely occasion.
