Start of a little mini-series of in-camera multiple exposures from my local skateboard park

This photo was taken back in mid October of last year (2023). We had never gone up during sunrise so we thought that would give it a try. Some weather apps showed clouds and some showed clear skies. This presented a problem for us... The drive down is about 3.5 hours away, so do we go or do we not? We decided to go anyway and just kept checking the weather on the drive down. We got nearly halfway down and it looked like complete cloud cover. Darn! We decided to pull over so I can look at the weather apps and we notice that it is all low clouds, no high or medium clouds. This could either be a cloud inversion, or we could just end up clouded out. We get to our camp spot, get some sleep, and then wake up early the next morning, and... we are socked in clouds. A little deflated, we still can see a few stars here and there so we get ready and head up the trail. As we hike, the clouds start to part! It was not until we get to the summit of the hike that we see the clouds below and the high clouds in the distance. It became very clear that we could have a potentially awesome sunrise. We were there with a few other people who came out for the sunrise hike as well, so we had to make our way around them to allow for everyone to get a photo. Eventually, the sun lit up the clouds in the background and the inversion was still there. This was one of the most epic sunrises that I can remember. It was amazing! The photo of this spot was also a little nerve wracking because I was also shooting this on a new camera so I was still learning all of the functions and the basics. Thank goodness it was in focus! At the end of the day, this was a 3 image panorama but was cropped down quite a bit down to 66 megapixels. Enjoy!

This MOC was built with the intention to invert the colors on your computer screen. To see the full effect and flee from this ugliness press these simple buttons! :D

For PCs Hold: Shift + Alt + Print Screen

For Macs Hold: Control + Option + Command, and press 8

Now what do you think?

Couldn't resist adding colors in the background to this inverted photo - bear with me + let your imagination run....

“There are people who can write their memoirs with a reasonable amount of honesty, and there are people who simply cannot take themselves seriously enough. I think I might be the first to admit that the sort of reticence which prevents a man from exploiting his own personality is really an inverted sort of egotism.” - Raymond Chandler

Long exposure of the buildings on the banks of the Ouse in York. The 'iratebadger' tag was taken off becasue I thought it interferred too much with the image. Not a great crop.

52 Weeks of 2022

Week No. 32: Crystal ball photography

Category: Creative / Technique

I had two ideas for this week's them, but I wasn't going to get time for one of them sadly, so this was the other idea. An iconic Norfolk Broads scene, a historic wind-pump (not a windmill, these ones pumped water) reflected in the water of a dyke.

This is Horsey Wind-pump close to the east coast.

I remembered why I find the lensball shots tricky, it's finding a way to balance the ball in a position to get a decent angle on the shot you want to frame in the ball. This is balance on the top tube of my tripod, having removed the ball-head.

Go to My 52 week Instagram to see some other shots taken with the lensball.

I post most frequently to my main Instagram so there are more photos there.
