Invert doesn't work with many photos -- I've tried -- but I really like how it works here.

inverted tart (cherry tomato, black olive, basil)
One of the prettier presentations at Coi. It had pesto on the bottom, then cherry tomatoes, then a light tomato froth (made with a siphon), a black olive crisp/paper, and some basil micro greens. It was basically a twist on a caprese salad.
It's actually a drop of water from a plant hanging in our house, but I think an inverted mountain is a much cooler image.

Day 1: Smoke Photos with Incense
A cool wisp of smoke that I inverted and applied a green to red gradient on.

Dr. Michael Logan (a professor from the University of Tennessee) had an article in the Plains Anthropologist on Inverted flags in plains Indian art. The theory of the day was that the Indians were just sloppy and silly and had done this by mistake. As you can see in this picture from the article, the indians managed to draw the sex of the animal accurately, and though you can't see it in this picture, they depicted the tufted ears of the animal correctly as well. It is much more likely that the inverted flag symbolized displeasure with U.S. policies that had so adversely affected them: broken treaties, loss of lands, forced relocation, denial of human rights, racism, economic dependency, etc. This was a veiled, though meaningful, gesture of defiance and disrespect. They took something of great salience from white American culture and "messed" with it.
