Polished steel sculpture by Elmgreen and Dragset in Helsingør, Denmark.
Elmgreen & Dragset are noted for their underwritten references in a subvert, invert, pervert approach to their art. Han, means ‘him’ in Danish, a diminutive of the name John and a glancing reference to H. C. Andersen, shows a young man positioned on a stone by the seaside. The figure and the stone have been cast in polished stainless steel, created a distorting mirroring effect incorporating the surroundings. In contrast to the romanticized mythology of selfless mermaid, Han is a more narcissistic merboy, with visual over and undertones of iconic gay urchin and the myth of Narcissus, in love with his reflection, and allusions to the aesthetic of Derek Jarman’s film Sebastiane, which explores erotic desire between men. The sculpture has a trick element with a hydraulic mechanism, which will make the eyes of the sculpture blink for a split second once every hour in a Galatea moment of life. As a potential object of collective observation and veneration this is reminiscent of the miraculous tears and blood of weeping religious statues.
A softly colored version of the Full Flower Moon for Mothers' Day. I have not presented the moon this way in a while.
Not only is it pretty, it is educational, too. "Find the craters that are members of the Copernican System (the newest major craters on the Moon)."
Hint: They are the ones with systems of rays that splay across the Moon's face.

Is the title really indicative of this shot? Sort of. It's not wrong. However, you have to admit that it's a kind of cool title. Anyhow, we're looking a little closer at the strange little fly or moth that I posted yesterday. It didn't move much then and I doubt that it would have moved at all unless I disturbed it. If I had to guess, I'd say that this little guy really banks on the efficiency of its camouflage rather than its aerial aerobatics to elude predators.

An outtake from a previous concept on shooting from a different perspective. It was a cold morning in the low 30's and inversion seemed like a quick way to accomplish this. meh..... I'm behind on everything.....so outtakes are the order of the day. Happy Sunday!

Another busy week been and gone yay……. Although I'm not sure that I should be wishing my life away :-)
I’ve been meaning to try this for a year now but I’ve just never got around to doing it.
Anyhow the other day I cleared out the garage so that I could build my water drop setup and do other photography based projects.
I took over 200 photos and got a couple of keepers, well I got loads that were in focus but I only got a couple that had the smoke formations that I was looking for!
I think that when I do these again I’ll have a better idea of how achieve what I want… you should give it a go it’s pretty good fun!!
I’ve got another one of these that I’m working on but I’ll save that upload for another day.
Have a great weekend everyone what ever you’re doing!!
