Tracked 30sec exposure. First time out with a sky tracker, and I need to get much better at it. The intervalometer on the tracker stubbornly refused to work with the camera... I was limited to the 30sec max on the camera. Lesson learned - come prepared if you want to use trackers :-)

OH MY GOSH!!!!
I'm back from the conference, what a humbling experience that was. I was running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.
As technical coordinator for the conference I was in charge of the projection and needed to be there as each presenter passed off to the next to make sure connections worked and such. On top of that I had to take care of last minute bootcamp schedule changes, rehearse my script for the presentations, and prepare for the workshops I was to co-host with Wayne which if any of you know Wayne isn't over till the the rooster crows the following day.
That was taking on way too much, I think I might have gotten 16 hours of sleep in 5 days. Whew, I'm relieved that's over but sad too. I would have to say that Royce Bair has got to be one of the most charismatic individuals I've ever met. I had the honor and pleasure to spend the 48 hours leading up to the conference with him comparing notes and talking shop.
I had to have been running on pure adrenaline and dopamine for five days straight.
Hanging in the lobby working with Dustin LeFavor on his new laptop, chatting with David Swindler, eating cake with Ryan Smith and purchasing some of that cool swag Phil Monson had in toe. Royce, Wayne. It was just too surreal. These guys are my hero's!! Man, I was pumped. What a great community of peoples.
Anyhow, I shot this one using a new technique I concocted out of desperation. Let me explain, a couple of years ago I went to a location with my bro-tog Bill McIntosh at night and forgot my intervalometer. I was trying to create light trails using a long exposure. I fiddled through the camera settings and found "Multiple Exposure Mode" Hum, maybe a could use that I thought, then further into the settings I found "Additive Mode" and the light bulb went off over my head. In photoshop, the additive terminology is used as a reference to "Lighten Only Mode" I set the camera to take 9 exposures and stacked them in-camera using only the light from the remaining eight exposures. The best thing about this technique is that I don't have to do that long exposure noise reduction technique that doubles your exposure time and you cut your ISO by 50% or better. So in essence you end up with a photo that has more detail at a lower ISO that takes half the time to shoot. Cha-Ching!!! Check out the Meta-Data, It works awesome.
I showed Royce and his eyebrows went right up to his hairline, He was really excited to try it out and confirmed that this is a great technique for stacking in-the-camera, in-the-field.
Nice to get validation from one of the best in the business!!
This is a shot taken during the first nights workshop and what a great group that was. Hope everybody had as much fun as I did.
Thanks as always, for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and reading my descriptions.
I am always grateful for your views, comments, faves, and support, they are truly appreciated!! Have a great day my friends!! :)

A view of the 2021 Perseid meteor shower focusing on the area around the radiant (the area where the meteors appear to originate, here the constellation Perseus). The meteor streaks were culled from around 400 photos taken after midnight using an intervalometer. The sky was partly cloudy in about 2/3rds of the photos, so I was pleased to get as many streaks as I did. Note that the streaks tend to be shorter the closer they are to the radiant (compare with previous post as well). The radiant is seen just above West Spanish Peak (13,631 ft (4,155 m) in the skinny portion of the Milky Way. Note also the Andromeda galaxy in the upper right quadrant and the Pleiades in the lower right quadrant.
At 4000 light years away this planetary is large but appears small at only 2 minutes of arc in diameter.

A Devonshire bluebell wood looking pretty spectacular as the setting sun casts long contrasting shadows across the lilac, blue and green carpet.
#bluebells #woodland #devon #landscapephotography #24-70mm
For several years, I’ve been contemplating this shoot. Echo Amphitheater is in northern New Mexico about 20 minutes from Abiquiu and presented me with two challenges. It is situated with its opening to the east. Most of the landscape in this image is to the south and west. It is also such an enclosed formation that I wasn’t sure it would be good for night skies. It would be late season for sure. The second obstacle? Finding time to get out when I needed to. I got out on 2 Sep this year.
I set up at dusk with my intervalometer to snap from the beginning of nautical darkness for about 3 hours. I expected the best Milky Way for imaging right at the start, but figured I should keep it running in case clouds interfered. That made for a nice time lapse movie linked at the end of this post.
This outing was the first time I was pleased with the results of low level lighting. I attended the Nightscaper conference this year and really appreciate the guidance Wayne Pinkston and Royce Bair shared about this technique. I employed two variations on what I learned from them. The first is that you can get a rough idea that you’ve got the level right by eyeballing the illumination of the landscape against the sky. My eyeball said they were about the same, and the camera agreed. Second, my lighting wasn’t quite enough to cover the scene all at once. Since I was taking images continuously for 3 hours, I just moved my light around during the shoot. Over several shots, I had the landscape coverage I was looking for—actually I mostly guessed here, trying enough variations that would give me enough to work with. This approach also let me do some filtering of the landscape with a modified version of the averaging used for sky processing.

Sometimes there are good photo ops waiting behind me, and sometimes I think to look. This bridge was behind me after I took the two early, downriver, sunrise photos that I have recently presented here. It's the bridge at Blakeney.
Unfortunately, it was the turning about that caused me to send my remote/intervalometer into the river.
© Anvilcloud Photography
I dragged myself out fairly early yesterday morning and drove up to Blakeney. The best sunrise would have been to the left behind the trees, but I couldn't get there — at least not keeping the river in the photo. I do like the view upriver: upriver being southerly on our little Mississippi River.
I shot this a Blakeney Rapids. It's a 4 exposure HDR although I don't think the HDRing was necessary; I just tend to do it that way sometimes. It was a costly shot, as I was near the water on sloping rocks to get this view, and the handheld part of my remote/intervalometer took a tumble into the drink. I retrieved it, but ... #shakeshisheadsadly

The high ISO was actually a mistake. I usually ramp it up temporarily for framing purposes only, then reduce it to 6400 as my default setting.
I therefore had no calibrating frames as well.

This photo is 1 of 1440 i shot this morning over 2 hours. I'm currently attempting to create a time lapse using the camera's in built intervalometer. I'm not sure about my maths. I worked out I needed 1440 shots to make 1 minute of footage.
Anyway see how it goes. All my other time lapse shots are done with the cameras inbuilt setting. As they say Practice makes perfect.

Ever since I wanted to do star trails, I had the Azure Window in mind...imagining the magnificence of the Azure Window with the trail of stars above it...
I have not done star trails before and granted I kinda knew what needs to be done, I soon realised how knowing something and realising it are two different things entirely...Everything you want is there, the sky, the blue, the moon, the night and the gorgeous Azure Window...
Though I did not quite like the end result (The moon rise made it impossible to keep going as it was almost full moon and it was like broad daylight)
If I had a pair of wellies, I would've gotten down to the water closer to the window itself but could not manage it with varying tides..
Malta was gorgeous but we picked the wrong time to go there as the sun was blazing and the days were quite hot. In a way it was fine as I do not shoot any pics during the day. So we usually hang out indoors and venture out in the evening and stay till late.
Food was great and the country as such is very safe and you can almost see people on the streets till the wee hours of the morning. May be some day I would get back here again..for now, I would sit back and reminisce that one starry night...
This is a composite of around 200 images stacked together and the light on the Azure Window was from cars going in and out of the parking lot (I know..at night who'd a thunk it!)
Thanks for viewing and have a nice week ahead everyone! :)

The Chevrolet Camaro is an automobile manufactured by Chevrolet, classified as a pony car and some versions also as a muscle car. It went on sale on September 29, 1966, for the 1967 model year and was designed as a competing model to the Ford Mustang. The car shared its platform and major components with the Pontiac Firebird, also introduced for 1967. Four distinct generations of the Camaro were developed before production ended in 2002. The nameplate was revived on a concept car that evolved into the fifth-generation Camaro; production started on March 16, 2009. [source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Camaro]

The Ford Mustang is an American automobile manufactured by Ford. It was originally based on the platform of the second generation North American Ford Falcon, a compact car. The original 1962 Ford Mustang I two-seater concept car had evolved into the 1963 Mustang II four-seater concept car which Ford used to pretest how the public would take interest in the first production Mustang. The 1963 Mustang II concept car was designed with a variation of the production model's front and rear ends with a roof that was 2.7 inches shorter. Introduced early on April 17, 1964, and thus dubbed as a "1964½" by Mustang fans, the 1965 Mustang was the automaker's most successful launch since the Model A. The Mustang has undergone several transformations to its current sixth generation. The Mustang created the "pony car" class of American automobiles, affordable sporty coupes with long hoods and short rear decks and gave rise to competitors such as the Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, AMC Javelin, Chrysler's revamped Plymouth Barracuda, and the first generation Dodge Challenger. The Mustang is also credited for inspiring the designs of coupés such as the Toyota Celica and Ford Capri, which were imported to the United States. [source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mustang]

A Reworked image made up from a series of RAW files from The Huntly Castle startrail. Made from 145 exposures of 30 Seconds. Images blended in starstax 7. The lighting came from a handful of sodium streetlamps that were nearby. They added to the atmosphere :-)
A timelapse exposure was taken on the setting crescent moon on January 4, 2022. An image was taken every 10 minutes as the moon set into the southwestern sky. The image was taken with a Canon 80D and a Canon 17-40 mm f/4L lens (ISO 400).
This was taken a few months ago, I was out at Loch Lomond one morning with my dog. I was taking some photos and I loved the way the beach reached out into the Loch. So I set my camera up on a tripod and attached an intervalometer so I could shoot a bunch of images every few seconds while I walked over to make a self portrait standing there. When I was happy with the settings and composition I accidently took a picture, set on a 10 second timer and within that time this crow flew in and stood perfectly at the point.
The self portrait that I uploaded at the time has been deleted by accident. I was confused with the new app update and I thought it was automatically uploading to Flickr all my personal snapshots of family and stuff from my camera roll. I started deleting them straight away. The app shows your public uploads mixed with your 'back-ups' which I find very confusing and with a click of a button, they're gone. Luckily I checked this or I would have no photostream!
