A visit to see the locomotives and railway system at the Guinness brewery at Park Royal on 12 April 1975 also found some ex-BR/GWR five-plank open wagons. This is 13T 135749, although it's use is unknown, they may have been used for permanent way duties.

The Battleship Building, 179 Harrow Road, Paddington Basin, London, England
One from the archives of Open House London, taken last year. This was one of my favourite buildings of last year. The rest of building was a joy to visit but this staircase was the 'Icing on the Cake' for me. Such inner beauty and curves. It almost had the feeling of being on a cruise ship from the 1920's with its lavish art deco decor, I suppose that it maybe why its called 'The Battleship Building'. It almost ironic though that name as although on the outside it has a very aggressive, grey exterior the internal part, especially this spiral staircase it is completely different.
This building however has not had it plain sailing (excuse the pun) as it was derelict and in a state of repair for many years and they had several images dotted around the building of the staircase all covered in graffiti. This was caused partly due to the illegal raves that occurred in it in the 1990s, hard to image this now as the place is immaculate. I think I prefer the building this way but I know many Urban Explorers would disagree with me on this. If this building was not saved I am sure it would have be demolished and put in its place some boring and characterless residential development.

This iconic structure was built in 1968 as a maintenance depot for British Rail vehicles and is a highly visible landmark near an elevated motorway that is a major gateway to London. The mosaic-clad exterior has been cleaned and restored to its former glory. The interior has been reworked carefully to provide space and environmental controls appropriate for the day-to-day operations of a modern tenant whilst retaining original features. It now provides 30,000 square feet of office space with chilled beams for air conditioning, heating and lighting.
A big quartz crystal, shot through with what I believe are metal crystals, or somesuch. I've been trying to do a good photo of thise for a long time, and this is the closest I've come to show how cool it looks in real life.
Same lights as the shell, but at 90 degrees to each other rather than cross lit. I'm sure you can tell where they were by the shadow.

The truck feathers internal ladder storage. The ladders fit between two rows of 1x4x3 panels. It's a pretty snug fit, but the ladders actually add a lot of rigidity to the model.
You can also see KME's "Straight shot hose bed", allowing the truck to provide it's own water supply via the pump.
Because of the ladder tunnel, I couldn't use my usual turntable design, using a shaft running through the body of the truck. I instead used mixel ball joints, as they were small, but also strong! There's a lot of leverage from the ladder, so the turntable is the weakest point.
Whilst travelling the 'scenic route' to a job yesterday and taking a road I can't remember having used the past, we happened upon this Foden 8 wheeler (and an ERF) with an odd body. I'm guessing that the pair of them would have been, in old industrial railway terms, Internal user wagons.
DL9475 with train 397 has stopped on the main line through Morrinsville to assist Train 474 which is in the yard sidings. The driver of the new DL9521 was having a problem associated with releasing the brakes. 397's driver was able to assist and the problem was resolved within a relatively short period. During the new DL's troubles, a rotating amber beacon was observed working. It can be seen just below the loco's frame to the rear of the battery box and ahead of the rear bogie. This is a new feature of the latest DL production series and I assume it has something to do with fault awareness and/or brake issues.

As you can see, I had a bit of trouble with this transfer, and the photo isn't quite the right angle.
