R711 sits next to the Castlemaine 'A' Signal Box which is situated between Platform 2 (Mainline) & Platform 3 (VGR). The signal box is operational & still counted as apart of the 'Mainline' System for purposes of Crossover Interlocking.
After shunting back from the Victorian Goldfields Railway where it had been stabled all day in 4rd, Castlemaine Yard; R711 waits patiently for the VGR portion hauled by K153 (SRV) to arrive with passengers bound for Melbourne.
A true change of trains from Branchline to Main!
I sanded the dovetail a bit to make a smooth fit, put some glue in the lock miter joint, and slid it home.
I folded this a while back but never got around to photographing it. It got squished (sadface) but I guess it's still cool.
This shows that they are replacing the windows and tuckpointing the brick. They are to replace the roof and the HVAC also.

This served as the approach signal to the 3rd Street interlocking tower for the Cloverleaf district of the Nickel Plate Road and later the Norfolk & Western. The line has since been abandoned and this semaphore style signal is barely visible thru the growth. I passed by this on March 17, 2008 and the semaphore is now missing.

The masonary lines are there for me to measure how the grading slopes towards the far end there in the picture. Basically the area between the house and the ropes is where the patio will be. I get to rip out all the dead grass and crappy dirt there.
