Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday!

Interlocking building as a concept of balanced interaction between wall and opening. This allows views into the environment and at the same time offers windowless wall surfaces as a place of retreat.

We all know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.

After swapping interchange cars with the NS at Buckeye Yard the Camp Chase crew shoves east through the interlocking known as Alton. This was the west wye connection leading to Buckeye Yard from the Columbus - Dayton - Cincinnati main line. Camp Chase uses a few miles of the NS main line west of Columbus to access Buckeye Yard and their own industrial switching line.

Pan Am Railways train BO-1 heads back to Somerville from Peabody seen here at Brickyard Interlocking in Lynn on the Eastern Route. MEC 507 was this days power and was a recent recipient of Guilford gray and orange, still can’t figure that one out but I’m not gonna complain.

This is the fourth photo in a series that I shot at Starved Rock State Park. In this scene, a couple sits on chairs while fishing at the bend of the Illinois River. I don't know about you, but I think I would have been just as content sitting there fishing instead of being behind the camera... :D

The heavy interlocking tiles covering the bank were put there to prevent soil erosion. The bridge in the distance is Highway 178.

The Giant's Causeway (Irish: Clochán an Aifir) is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption. It is located in County Antrim on the north coast of Northern Ireland, about three miles (4.8 km) northeast of the town of Bushmills.

It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 and a national nature reserve by the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland in 1987. In a 2005 poll of Radio Times readers, the Giant's Causeway was named the fourth-greatest natural wonder in the United Kingdom.

The tops of the columns form stepping stones that lead from the cliff foot and disappear under the sea. Most of the columns are hexagonal, although some have four, five, seven, or eight sides. The tallest are about 12 metres (39 ft) high, and the solidified lava in the cliffs is 28 metres (92 ft) thick in places.

Much of the Giant's Causeway and Causeway Coast World Heritage Site is owned and managed by the National Trust. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Northern Ireland, receiving over 998,000 visitors in 2019. Access to the Giant's Causeway is free of charge: it is not necessary to go via the visitor centre, which charges a fee. The remainder of the site is owned by the Crown Estate and several private landowners. Wikipedia

On the coastline - near Blackpool, UK.

Once again, I find myself on the IC shooting the daily transfer from CN’s Glenn Yard to Kirk Yard. On a surprising sunny day this December, train L5369129 traverses its way south through one of Chicago’s most busiest and existential junctions of Kensington. An Illinois Central SD70 (1038) leads a couple of CN corporate painted units such as a GEVO, GP40R, and an SD38-2. Seen here in rare form taking main one under the wire while passing the Illinois Central interlocking tower nearing its 100th year guarding the junction for the Illinois Central, Chicago South Shore and South Bend, and now of course Canadian National and Metra. Taken: 12-29-22

Us locals and regulars that know the train well, know how hard it is for them to run main 1 here at Kensington, yes I’m sure it happens all the time when were not around but to be there when it does, opens for new shot opportunities such as this.
