Authentic vintage silk used for a sixties style dress

Ending the club year with a bang is the final W Club Exclusive of 2017 Fame & Fortune Vanessa Perrin Gift Set! A few days ago at the W Club Forum I was just saying Vanessa needed a moment of redemption. I feel like she’s slipping away from us and the only way to claim her spot back is to bring the original Vanessa face sculpt into the forefront. Reminiscent of iconic moments in Fashion Royalty history Jessy Ayala brought us back to the times when the brand felt luxurious and high end. A Fashionable Life, Ginza, Poesie Sans Coeleur and a few other past gift sets come to mind. This is the instant that I am reminded of why I am obsessed with dolls and why I’m such a fan of Fashion Royalty and Integrity Toys. I am living for this moment!

Now let’s get into the details. The fan requested luggage set made a comeback after years of Integrity Toys telling us that they are now expensive to produce compared to how it was in the years past. When thinking of trunks and luggage in the early years of Fashion Royalty, their Louis Vuitton inspired bags comes to mind. For the first time in this set Jessy incorporated a personalized monogram in Vanessa’s initials inspired by Louis Vuitton’s Mon Monogram service. Initially I wasn’t a fan of the idea of it but as I have been constantly looking through the promos I am definitely in love with the idea. Now this has really been a “bitch stole my look” moment for Vanessa with all these Japanese influence because this set easily could have been Kyori’s but as I realized that would have been predictable. I mean after all Kyori was a no-show in this club year. But could Kyori bring the same impact if it was her who was featured instead of Vanessa? I think not. This set was all about sellability and Vanessa is the more popular of the two, specifically Vanessa 1.0.

Yet again, with the color palette, this Vanessa pays homage to A Fashionable Life and Night Warrior with an Asian influence twist. An influence part of Fashion Royalty’s DNA. But what’s new and different here? Definitely the face design is an updated version of A Fashionable Life/Poesie Sans Coeleur face screening with a new stronger and thicker set of eyebrows. The eye lines are thicker or the irises are adjusted so there’s not much white showing under them. Her lips are also fuller like Evermore. What separates this Vanessa from past versions with the same color palette is that her hairstyle gives her that eternal youth. She definitely has that edge with her ponytail done in a way we’ve never seen before from past FR dolls.

My favorite look for Vanessa in this set would be the all-black ensemble. Not only because she looks like she’s mourning for our dead asses, but because along with it comes with the coolest accessories. First off, she has a new pair of glasses. Now they may look similar to the rounded frame glasses that came with October Issue Agnes, the recent Glad All Over Poppy Parker and the FR2 Sheer Bliss fashion pack but these are definitely brand new. They’re more contemporary rather than the past iteration being retro. The ensemble also comes with a clutch purse inspired by Alexander McQueen De Manta Nappa which I’m glad to have in miniature. But the ultimate accessory I’m most excited about is her embroidered gloves. I mean what a way to make a fashion statement? These are must-have fashion pieces! Not only that, this set debuts a new pair of “gloved” hand sculpts with no sculpted fingernails like the past versions and it has sculpted seam detail which adds realism to the “gloved” look of the hands. I have been requesting for this for years! It finally came true! This just makes those doll mitten gloves outdated. I am definitely geeking out over these new advancements and I’m thinking… What innovative feature are they going to introduce us next in 2018? There’s so much to look forward to and I’m here for it. Bring it on Integrity Toys!

I realized I've never taken any decent photos of her tats. I still need to seal them and now clean them because they haven't been sealed to finish. Because everything is more important. Which is actually not true. But ended up being. Sorry Devon :(

Eva Green's character Artemisia in the sequel to the movie 300 was my inspiration for the dress I made for FR16 and Tulabelle dolls. I made this outfit in two pieces that can be worn separately or layered together as shown in some of these pics. One piece is a simple sheer asymmetrical dress with two side slits, and the other is a black and gold bustier with attached black fringe skirt This outfit will be available on ebay very soon.

Who crosses out mushrooms? I guess sober people? This image has a certain down the rabbit hole feel for me. After passing the broken door, I peered through the series of doors. The glass interiors were long since broken out. A certain repetition. Empty office, empty office, empty office. A drone, a mantra. Capital remains.

I sure can’t decide on a “doll of the year” yet. I have a shortlist, and I know who seems to have gotten the most attention, but it was an overwhelming doll year! I got way too many dolls at once to really be able to appreciate them individually the way they deserve!

I was tag by several dolly friends, thanks so much:)

Theme details: Take us back in time and show your doll trying to stand out from the conformist fashion and atmosphere of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Show us finding her/his own way of self expression through art or fashion. Maybe she's gathered at a coffee shop, listening intently to a poetry reading -- a common activity and hot spot of the time, or she's ditching the proper feminine attire of a knee-length dress and gloves for skinny black pants (how daring!) and a beret. From diorama to fashion, the only guidelines here are to show your doll daring to be different in a time when conformity was the norm.

Ask Any Girl Poppy Parker can't seem to find satisfying answers from her parents about whatever she is grappling with on this dreary winter day, so instead she has taken her favorite writer's advice.
