The last days of a once fine round crib near Lostant,IL. When I was in 6th grade I played in an elementary school basketball tournament-I bet this crib looked a lot better those 45 years ago.I'm getting old! LOL
This is still a nice old round crib,built a little different than most.I'll post a pic of the complete structure later...
A twofer at the Split Rock Lighthouse yielded the Philip R Clarke and American Integrity gliding through the icy cold waters of Lake Superior, which was evidently warmer than the surrounding air tempature.

People just decide that their boat isn't worth it anymore, they dump it or maybe it breaks down. According to CJ a local boat captain it costs they county about 15k to remove these boats and they only have a budget each year of 85K. So, when these owners determine enough is enough for them, they remove the VIN numbers and anything of value and let the rest of us pick up the mess. I really dislike people like that. Best part.... If you look at the name of the boat close up... Integrity.

Sunset, Saranac Lake, Adirondacks, NY.
How many evenings have I waited through, watching my exposure drop with each passing minute. Sunset has no integrity. What may have been spectacular last night, with the same type of day as today, wonât necessarily happen again. Clouds are always a help, but not an absolute. Sometimes there's a glow that just keeps intensifying, with a perfectly clear sky. Then there are days with the right combination of cloud cover proportionate to sky and horizon to light the world on fire. If conditions look right, expectations rise. But there is no honesty. I have been set up so many times with what looked like perfection, only to see it fizzle at the last. Too often, the sky can go neutral in an instant, the clouds turning white to gray without a hint that color ever even existed. It's not exactly lying. It is more like someone pretending to be one thing, and not being who you thought she was at all. You wonder, when she's holding out that promise, what pleasure she takes in deserting you, in being unfaithful. On this night, though, she has my back. As the ridgelines become erotic silhouettes, I ache at the colors of desire thrown up--the heat of the yellows, the warmth of the oranges, the passion of the pinks. And sadden at how quickly they fade into that vault of ice above. After so many disappointments, I shake my head at how easily I am seduced by the fulfillment. I've learned not to trust anything, except that there will be a sunrise, and there will be a sunset, even if there is nothing to be seen. Sunset has no integrity, but I do. I keep returning, every time it callsâ¦for the lust of it, I guess. But tomorrow, I will be in a different place, with a different feeling in my heart. And maybe Iâll find a sunset that doesnât fade to blue.

"You neglect me, I ignore you. That's how this works," Sunny informs me after I finally reached for her for a little photo time today. Poppys can certainly pout and give their humans guilt trips. ;)

This once grand farmhouse, was a showcase for the fortunes of the farmer that grew corn there on the fertile flatlands near Peoria,IL.Life couldn't be better,or the future brighter.
But in the late 1970's and early '80s,things started to go very wrong.Crop prices dropped and interest rates tripled.Then Caterpillar bought large tracts of the now much cheaper farmland nearby.Then the aging owner passed and there was no one to carry on the fading legacy...no one that cared.The decision was made to sell the farm.But Caterpillar wasn't interested in buying more land-it was cheaper to manufacture overseas.And who wants to buy and fix up this fading gem...and live in an area surrounded by smoke belching factories and heavy traffic?
So the farm and its fading showcase waits...with little hope for a future.
a reversal in fortunes indeed...
