Inside the The abbey of Our Lady in Lonlay (or Lonlay-l'Abbaye).
This abbey, at first situated outside the town of Lonlay (now the place has grown) was founded by William of Bellême (Guillaume Ier de Bellême), with the original charter signed around 1020. It was a Benedictine abbey, built in Romanesque style. It had several priories, including Notre Dame sur l'eau in Domfront (which can be seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/dameboudicca/20515002803 ). The whole place saw substantial renovations and rebuilding in the 12th and 14th century and the church is now in the Gothic style. But it also saw two fires in the 16th century - the first started by accident in 1533 (which destroyed much of the abbey archives) and the second by Huguenots in 1574 during the War of Religions. The Benedictine order left after this and the place was never fully rebuilt. The church was also damaged by bombs in 1944 and the liberation of France. A full restoration (including archaeological studies) began in 1965 and in 1973 the church was once again open for parish use.

Pero nuestro castellano, aunque maravilloso, es así; ¡que le vamos a hacer!. Porque si es correcto “pasó” del verbo “pasar”, ¿Por qué me obligan a decir “anduvo”?
Naturaleza Muerta: añadir muerte a belleza es un contrasentido. O una terrible inoportunidad, como diría cualquier snob inglés.
A nosotros Gómez de la Serna nos arranca una sonrisa.
¡Y pensar que todos los de la guía telefónica un día no estarán ni en la guía telefónica!
O esta otra, un poco más macabra.
Nuestros gusanos no serán mariposas.
Volviendo al tema del pie de foto, busco en Wikipedia (pobre Espasa y Enciclopedia Británica, ¿seguís vivas?) y encuentro algo que si me gusta: “Esta rama de la pintura se sirve normalmente del diseño, el cromatismo y la iluminación para producir un efecto de serenidad, bienestar y armonía”.
Pensé titularla así: en busca de serenidad y armonía.
Aunque lo lógico será decir “ciruelas” a modo de Lope en su Soneto:
“Contad pues si son catorce
y ya está hecho”
o como hace pimontes en esta maravilla.

P.S. 20 MINUTES LATER,IN THE PITCH DARK AND VIEWING MY IMAGES IN THE VIEWFINDER,I WALKED STRAIGHT OFF THE CONCRETE AND PLUNGED CHEST DEEP INTO THE CANAL .LUCKILY INSTINCT MADE ME HOLD THE CAMERA ABOVE MY HEAD.I HAD TO THEN WALK HALF A MILE HOME.
