A studio shot of a conventional tungsten light bulb in the process of blowing out.
This photo is quite heavily processed, being a composite of several shots at different stages during the burn out, some masking and some quite strong tone curve adjustments.
I took this shot for the latest CY special challenge on the theme 'Light/Dark'. It was based on a picture I saw about a year ago on Rich Legg's photostream. But I think I might have to try this again, because I didn't quite manage to catch the best of the smoke rising from the evaporating filament.

Coventry Cathedral, in the West Midlands, England.
This baptistery window is one of the most impressive in England.
The stained-glass window was designed by John Piper and created by Patrick Reyntiens and has a total of 195 panels.
The original Gothic Cathedral was bombed on the night of November 14th, 1940, during the second world war and destroyed.
A new Cathedral rose from the ashes, linked to the ruins of the old shell, architect Sir Basil Spence.

Basically, I made a heart shape aluminum foil mold. Then I put the foil mold in the center of the pan and fried an egg inside it. Done! =D

The octagon at Ely Cathedral, Cambridgeshire.
I've wanted to get a picture of this for years and have never made it there, that changed last weekend and I think it was worth the journey to see this stunning Cathedral.
So many of the national trust properties I've been posting shots of recently have a no interior photography policy so I've been restricted to outdoor shots, it was great to get inside a wonderful building like this and be able to get some detailed shots of the interior.
The Hassan II Mosque or Grande Mosquée Hassan II is a mosque in Casablanca, Morocco. It is the largest mosque in
Morocco and Africa and the 7th largest in the world. Its minaret is the world's tallest at 210 metres (689 ft). Completed in 1993, it was designed by Michel Pinseau and built by Bouygues. The minaret is 60 stories high topped by a laser, the light from which is directed towards Mecca. The mosque stands on a promontory looking out to the Atlantic Ocean, the sea bed being visible through the glass floor of the building's hall. The walls are of hand-crafted marble and the roof is retractable. A maximum of 105,000 worshippers can gather together for prayer: 25,000 inside the mosque hall and another 80,000 on the mosque's outside grounds.

Taken inside the abandoned St. Agnes Catholic School Big thanks to Rob for throwing books with me, and to Ali for laughing at me as I freaked out over the scary clown music coming from the ice cream truck circling he neighborhood.
This was my first time time (aside from the factory in Indiana) exploring an abandoned building and it was such a powerful experience for me to see a building that was once so beautiful, now decaying and falling apart, especially as I work in a school. We explored the safer rooms of the school, venturing down to the basement and we had planned to get into the neighboring church but all the enterances were sealed and we didn't want to create 'a situation'.

Big and little hexagons and triangles circle around each other. On the left you see the front and on the right the back (or visa versa), both with backlight.
It is an extended version of the "Ice-flower".
This is the third version of a pattern in a hexagon field, which I discovered. You can see the other two, called "Pattern" and "Hexagon".
This pattern is also related to "Purple".
I just changed the distance to see what the effect would be like.

And now for something completely different...
This is a shot looking up inside the 220 foot tall High Point monument - built on the highest point in the state of New Jersey.
My boys and I went there earlier in the week, climbed these stairs to the top, and were rewarded with a beautiful view of the Pocono Mountains toward the west, the Catskill Mountains to the north and the Wallkill River Valley in the southeast.
As I processed this shot, trying for something a bit fun and different, I worked my way to the tones shown here. Made me think of a certain flavor of ice cream...

Colorado Springs, CO - This is the inside of a hot air balloon. We attended the annual Labor Day Lift Off here in town. It was a lot of fun! The morning was full of several balloons and thousands of smiling faces.

doing a lot of photoshop these days. we recently painted this room, i think the walls kind of look like pea. but a nice pee. this was created with one old dusty white balloon that i found and blew up.. and there are errors because my photoshop has something to be desired but happy that i've gotten to shoot&upload in the same day for the past few days. white balance is overrated.
