For some reason, whenever I see a news van, all the old news channel slogans pop into my head. Most often, it's "There's that Channel 7 News van again" from when I lived in California (though I believe 7 was ABC, not FOX - which was KTVU on channel 2...? Yes, I used to watch the news a lot as a kid. Heh. :)
Anyway, this was parked on the pier in preparation to watch the ship leave on Friday. I almost didn't get to park on the pier... but the MA noticed I'm pregnant, and I told the security guard I had four kids with me in the van (my oldest is 9, my youngest is 15 mos) and it was cold and windy and damp... and so they got me special permission "from the top" to allow me to drive down and park on the pier. I was soooo grateful, because I have no idea where I'd have parked, given it was during working hours and couldn't park in the usual spots; and I'd probably have missed the ship leaving and getting to wave to my husband.
I accidentally parked on one of their wires (OOPS!) so they were a little worried when I arrived back at my van - probably that they'd never find out whose van it was and they'd have to stay there for who-knows how long?! I apologized profusely but they were very gracious - and one of them even let me peek into the van to watch the ship going away on one of their monitors. It was pretty cool - I'd never seen the inside of a news van before.

We are at The Victory Show, a WWII re-enactment show.
After the re-enactment battle, the barrel is being cleaned. This involved using a very long stick to pull back a bristled brush on the end of a piece of rope.
The M36 tank destroyer, formally 90 mm Gun Motor Carriage, M36, was an American tank destroyer used during World War II. It was known as Jackson or Slugger by the British, after the Confederate general Stonewall Jackson. American soldiers usually referred to them as TDs for 'tank destroyers'. The M36 first served in combat in Europe in September 1944, and served until the end of the war; it also served during the Korean War, and in the armies of several other countries.

Jess' Nike+ insert. Pretty cool. The insoles on the shoes are a little thin and Jessica mentioned possibly getting some new ones as they wore down.
The insert was from a web search for the location of the film Atonement with Keira Knightley, James McAvoy taken not to far from where my image was taken.
The Seven Sisters cliffs are occasionally used in filmmaking and television production as a stand-in for the more famous white cliffs of Dover, since they are relatively free of anachronistic modern development. They are also featured at the beginning of the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and at the end of the film Atonement where Robbie and Cecilia always wanted to live.[1]
Just a shot of the cards inside...I will put some coffee or hot chocolate packs in here as well! more on my blog at cruzinkellster.blogspot.com/
Colour advertising insert in a late Victorian magazine promoting Pears Soap.
Pears were famous for their campaigns, pioneering a new style of eye-catching advertising that was more visuals than text. When I came across this, it was really startling and modern-looking compared to the cramped and 'busy' ads in the rest of the magazine.
