DA BOLOGNA A CASTEL BESENO - NO INPUT PERFORMANCE

Whether in commercial industry or in the federal government,
one key to success in acquisition is first getting early input and continuous feedback from the customer and truly understanding the customer’s requirements. (Photo by Capt. Scott Kuhn, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division)

Dave inputing the track data. Building the custom application was by far the coolest part of this project. I guess its the creation thing. I love finding better ways to grab the moment, and analyze it in damn near real time.
The Colorado Technology Association (CTA) is traveling across Colorado July 20-24 to gather input, listen and learn from tech communities outside Denver and Boulder. CTA’s offices are located in Denver, but members are scattered across the state and CTA staff wants to get to know them better. The primary goal of the Colorado Tech Tour is to gather insight on how the technology industry impacts - or could impact - each local economy.
The Colorado Technology Association will be joined by Colorado Innovation Network (COIN), Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, Governor's Office of Information Technology and Go Code Colorado.
Individuals representing a tech company, startup, STEM education program or Colorado innovation are invited to join us. The tour attendees are looking forward to an informative tour of the state, which will allow them the opportunity to connect with new and established companies. During listening sessions, the Denver delegation will meet with community and business leaders to understand challenges and opportunities that exist in each region.
Each day, happy hour events are open to any and all members of the tech community. Join us at a nearby event, or grab some coworkers and make it a road trip! Please RSVP if you plan to join us.
Program speakers include Erik Mitisek, CEO, Colorado Technology Association; Anna Ewing,
Executive Director, Colorado Innovation Network (COIN) and COO, Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade; Jonita LeRoy, IT Economic Development, Governor's Office of Information Technology; and Andrew Cole, program manager, Go Code Colorado at Colorado Secretary of State's Office.
The tour is supported by sponsors including Centurylink, Swiftpage, ViaWest, GTRI, NetApp, 23rd Studios and YellowDog Printing and Graphics.

Technically I've found that moving Zone 6 as Sony sensors record it and creating an input correction curve post-demosaic that lowers it to Zone 5 sets the kind of deep tones I'm looking for.
As a side note: Sony sensors are very very quiet in the shadow regions. There is so much usable information deep into the -EV range.
When "testers" and commenters across the internet make claims about dynamic range I see what they report to be 1 to 2 stops narrower dynamic range than what I see. The difference is that I rise the mid-tones in my Digital Zone System luminosity curves to match 0EV to Zone 5, which, it turns out, usefully raises the shadows down to 020202hex - where I take things to be pure black (I can't see any difference between 000000hex and 0202020hex on my displays).
My Sony A7 can record 14.5EV to 15EV of usable f-stop range. Yes. It's true. Same with an A6300 that I have. The A6000, NEX-7, NEX-5T, and A5000 all record just about 14EV dynamic range.
The A7RII I recently picked up looks like it's good for between 14EV and 14.5EV. This surprised me as I thought backside illumination might set a more solid base noise level. Perhaps it's all those pixels or the way they set the analog to digital converters?
In any event, I would really like to try a Sony A7S (original model) to see how it does. Anyone have one and have a few minutes to record some RAW data for me? Or loan me for 10 minutes so I could run my input correction curve calculations? These cameras are getting cheap enough that I might even be able to buy a used copy myself. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for one.
When I got married I only provided input to two things, everything else was my wife's choice and I gladly left the less important things in her capable hands. ;) My input was:-
1.) No church.
2.) The DJ needs to have lots of Ska and 2Tone in his record bag...
I love most types of music, but one of my favourite genres is Ska and I've got Friday off work to head down to Madstock to watch Madness and a few other bands with my brothers for some bonding time and an awful lot of beer.... Grabbed this shot of one of the tickets before I packed it in my overnight bag as I'm away in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire tomorrow...
Gives torrential rain on Friday though :(
FAO has distributed farm inputs worth over US$ 623,000.00 to over 6,500 food insecure households in The Gambia. This FAO-supported programme covered households in the North Bank Region (NBR), Lower River Region (LRR), Central River Region (CRR) and Upper River Region (URR)). These regions have stunting rates above the national average. The intervention aims to reverse the trend through increased crops (rice, maize, groundnuts) production and productivity. Entering the movie theater from the lobby, this small table and compact sound board take up the space behind the last row. All things audio have come a long way since vacuum tubes and mics attached to wires and held by stands. In preparation for the panel discussion to follow today's movie from Japan in the chiaroscurogr.org international movie series, there are wireless handheld mics for the MC and the two experts who will speak about the movie's method and the cultural undercurrents that may well be missed by the USA audience. Each mic's number corresponds to the slider control, from 1 to 32. What is experienced by speakers and audience as simple handling of diverse inputs depends on software, hardware, and the experienced hand and ear of the sound engineer today.

Walking over this stencil on the sidewalk, I surprised myself by knowing this is an image of Jonny 5 from the 1986 film Short Circuit.
