Luke Wroblewski, CEO & Co-Founder of Input Factory Inc., the "Mobile First" author, gives An Event Apart presentation entitled "It’s a Write/Read (Mobile) Web."
On the surface, content is king online. But digging deeper into the underbelly of the web reveals a complex ecosystem of communication and contribution that shapes the web and how we interact with it. What lessons can we learn from the web’s inner workings as we move to a mobile-driven, multi-device internet? Luke will not only lift the covers on where we need to focus our efforts but share lots of practical advice on how as well.
I'm carefully measuring where the smokebox input pipe is relative to the boiler backhead so I can adjust the hole locations on the front deck.
I uploaded a screenshot from an older circuit before, this is the current circuit with protection for the op-amp running on single-supply. As used in the Shifty VU Shield: macetech.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&p...
Wire to the headlight in the usual manner through grommeted holes in the fender. I used a thicker gauge wire to split the power. One plug is for the input from the generator, the other is for the tail light.
This tiny 5V breadboard power supply is made using a voltage regulator, two 1µF capacitors, a resistor+LED and a power switch. It has a 9v battery clip for input, and the voltage regulator's pins are used to connect it to the breadboard. It's basically a voltage regulator with a circuit soldered to the legs!
It's providing a nice 4.96V, which is close enough I guess.
Every single hole is used up in the schematics :D
This module is installed in the back of the enclosure and it distributes the three phases input among the six redundant power supplies.
Teardown and mod of my MS-20 mini. I added attenuated PWM input as well as two sets of mults. The other four jacks are for future work and are not currently in use.
Shout out to Oren who gave me the idea of doing this mod. imgur.com/a/tvyJF
Sorry for the crappy focus. Camera is dying from being dropped, and I didn't realize the lens was messed up as well.
OpenCV (the Open Source Computer Vision Library) can detect different features in images using different input XML files called "Haar cascades".
To get an idea how successful each one is, how many false positives, and how much stuff in total it finds, here's the results of running each file on 41,452 magazine covers.
The title shows the input XML filename and how many features were detected in all.

As Karl Addison’s art and vision evolves—from blank slate, to paper, to mural, to installation, to unoccupied public space—our understanding and comprehension of the world around us begins to unfold as well. We may not notice his input, infiltrating our subconscious—our everyday—but it’s there. A beautiful woman’s face composed of negative space watching peacefully over a cemetery in Wedding, a fragile old Jewish woman towering over a decommissioned factory in Berlin, an urban zoo of imagined creatures deposited all over the globe, an abandoned room filled with 4,500 fat babies…Addison’s art and commentary on history and culture are everywhere, becoming part of the collective unconscious.
Through his travels to Italy, Israel, Japan, throughout the US, and his current residence in Berlin, Addison’s overarching theme of people and the spaces they occupy and interact with has taken shape. By focusing on pieces, which work to become part of public space rather than interrupt it, his intent to create regenerative art through murals and other mediums is being actualized. He has achieved this both independently and collaboratively with other contemporary artists and painters, most notably James Boullough. Addison’s recent and current collaborative projects also highlight his more narrowed focus of interconnectedness, “connecting humanity around the world with different cultures from different places,” he wants us to value tiny lines, details, to appreciate a world view and hopefully, start extolling minute details of our own.
It takes an extraordinary person, one with talent, courage, and patience, to express himself the way Addison does. To project his voice and vision for the world to see—to rip it out of a sketch book or a blank page in his mind—and produce it. To take it beyond the two-dimensional and spray paint, wheat paste, bomb, the side of a building with an illimitable piece of art. To exhibit in public space—on walls, on clothing, in art galleries—what a beautiful fucking thing. Art—“a new mode of obtaining power of mind over mind” leaving the watching to the watched.

1. Open preferences in VLC
2. Click on Advanced tab on bottom of screen
3. Select Input/Codecs
4. Select Access Modules
5. Select DVD with menus [Note: to make this same adjustment when you are playing back regular files as opposed to DVDs, simply select File instead of DVD with menus and continue with the rest of the instructions]
6. Change the default value (300 milliseconds) to 6000. This will increase the amount of audio data buffering to 6 seconds, which should be enough to synchronize the audio playback.
7. Click Save to activate your changes (you may need to quit VLC to ensure the settings become active).
8. Re-open the DVD using VLC and click Play.
9. Click the “f” key repeatedly to adjust the amount of audio synchronization offset. It adjusts the audio offset downwards by 50 millisecond increments. I had to set mine to around -4900 milliseconds to correctly match the audio with the video output on my system. Press the “g” key to increase the offset in the other direction. Watch the actor’s lips and adjust the offset until it matches perfectly.
10. Enjoy listening to your DVD audio through your speakers, streamed wirelessly!

Crown XLS1500 DriveCore Series 1550W Amplifier Description:
Crown's XLS 1500 amplifier is a premiere portable PA system with unmatched performance, technology and affordability. It includes multiple inputs so you can plug in anything and play anywhere, along with several system setup configurations. This high-performance Crown power amp provides enormous power and flexibility thanks to the integrated DriveCore Technology, PureBand Crossover System and Peakx limiters. Weighing less than 12 pounds, it's much easier to set up and move from show to show.
A Crown Power Amp with Integrated DriveCore Technology
Class D amplifiers are notable for extraordinarily high efficiency and being well suited for driving difficult reactive loads such as subwoofers. However, their performance can suffer impaired performance on marginal and unstable AC line supplies. To overcome this obstacle, Crown engineers developed DriveCore Technology—a proprietary hybrid analog-digital integrated circuit (IC) developed with Texas Instruments that drives the "front end" of the Class D output stage. Over 60 years of Crown's design knowledge and experience went into the development of this technology resulting in truly remarkable benefits. DriveCore Technology provides an extremely wide tolerance with regards to sagging or "dirty" AC line conditions, providing consistent performance without affecting audio quality. This means the Crown XLS1500 power amp will not compromise your performance by fluctuating generator power, or overload from lighting rigs, backline gear, etc.
In addition, DriveCore Technology's patented feedback and PWM modulation circuits enable fast recovery on peak transients, accurate reproduction of low-level detail, and precise tracking of low-frequencies at high power levels for maximum subwoofer output.
Advanced Switched-Mode Power Supply
The advanced power supply in the Crown power amp is highly efficient and optimized for maximum power transfer from the AC line through the Class D output stage to the loudspeakers. A benefit to this is substantial weight reduction when compared to older 60Hz transformer-based power supplies.
PureBand Crossover System
The PureBand Crossover System in the Crown XLS Series power amplifiers adds an enormous amount of flexibility and performance to any system. With this system, the crossover frequency is completely variable allowing the choice of any crossover point between 50Hz and 3kHz on 1/12 octave centers. The use of 4th order Linkwitz-Riley filters provides steep slopes for a seamless transition between high and low drivers. And with four crossover modes to choose from providing the ultimate in flexibility, all of your system needs are covered.
Peakx limiters
Peakx limiters provide the ultimate in performance and protection for your entire system. This advanced algorithm was specifically developed and tuned to work with this amplifier and power-supply to achieve higher SPL will less audible artifacts. This means less distortion, less shutdowns, and maximum safe power delivered to your speakers. The Peakx limiters can be easily turned on or off by channel right from the front panel eliminating the need to be digging around in the back of the dark rack.
The XLS is a leader in portable amps, with DriveCore Technology, PureBand Crossover System, and Peakx limiters

I only have one DI box, and needed more, so I decided to build my own. It has a 1/4in. input, balanced XLR output, and switches for ground lift, -30dB pad and phase flip.
The heavy duty metal box was $2 at a thrift store. The rest of the parts were pulled from other (free) items I found (e.g. The transformer is pulled from a broken sound mixing console I got free on Craigslist).
