Just sharing for those of you who are playing along with alcohol inks this week for Thinking Inking. This was a clear votive glass that cost $0.99. I dressed it up a little with alcohol inks -- Denim, Bottle, and Terra Cotta). Some of the felt fibers came off and got stuck to the glass, but overall it is a fun idea to dress up a cheap item.

Materials: speedball water based printing ink + Jack Richeson Lino on Stillman & Birn, Epsilon paper

I attended another Paint the Town event this morning, this time at the Sebright Gardens just north of home. I found a cool place in the shade and did this sketch. Such a peaceful place with lots of hummingbirds and flowers.
Spiral bound watercolor pad 5.5 x 7.5 inches (13.5 x 18.5 cm). Sailor Fude pen with Noodler's Lexington Grey ink, Kuretake fountain brush pen with Platinum Carbon Black ink, Daniel Smith watercolors, #10 Connoiseur Sable Mix round brush, Pentel medium round waterbrush, and some Schmincke gouache.
Materials: assorted dip pen nibs with Rohrer & Klinger: Alt-Goldgrun fountain pen ink on a Rhodia Dot Pad
Notes: it had occurred to me that my frustration with some inks was simply a matter of using the wrong nib. I did a quick test today with one ink colour.
*0.0!!!!!!!! Well that's not all over the map....I'm going to have to sit down and do this with the lot of them.
